Dudes 4.9 rated by BMW we all know is very conservative...
That being said it'll most likely be sub 4.5s 0-60 and for an electric hybrid that's F'n awesome.

I for one would buy one if I had that kinda money. It's more about high society flash then being a halo car for anyone. Definitely a looker...

I know they won't directly compete..... but from what I've been reading about the 2014 ACURA NSX, it is absolutely going to destroy any hybrid sports car. the setup described for the torque vectoring, the individual front wheel electric motors and turbo v-6 mid-engine mounted..

Imagine you've driven 60k and the electric engine battery is drained, you would effectively be reduced to finishing your journey in a 3 cylinder hairdryer.

My explanation is that BMW i and BMW M are not related at all. I would not want BMW to make an M version of i8 since it is not an M car. Instead, I want them to make a halo car that is called M1.

How about that you are a rich car guy who loves the environment? If I have the money, I will totally buy this car. No, it is not as fast as the other halo cars, but the fuel efficiency is amazing. I know that I am the minority. I also believe that I might be the only one who has this kinda crazy green mind in this forum, but I don't care because this is who I am. Also, this is what BMW i stands for. You can just stick with the M if you like. And yes, I want an M1...

Of course that I don't have a money so I would just stick with a fun to drive 3 that is also pretty fuel effient

are you guys serious? When you buy a car north of 100K you want something exotic, something different, something never been done before - this car gives you that - supercar speed and top hybrid technology, MPG to brag about to your neighbor who can't achieve 14 MPG in his Ferrari. This is a car for the super rich. It is not anyones only 100K car, it goes in a collection of cars, maybe to be driven every 15th weekend in the rotation. That is why they project 10K sales, very few can truly afford it.

Absolutely. Cars from each sub-brand are built from the ground up... so throwing an M V8 in an i8 would make just as terrible a car as putting the i8 power-train in an M6, for example. I'm thankful that BMW see's a car as more than just the engine - hence the need for sub-brands.

Think of BMWi as a new revolution in alternative mobility.


Actually they don't. Look at the R8 and SLS AMG today , they are yesterdays cars. There 15 minutes are up, Even the Bugatti douchebag has become almost a characterture with its endless "fools are parted easily with their money 2 Million euro +, ltd editions"

The hot sports car of the moment is the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and rightly so because in the flesh it is beautiful it is everything a Ferrari should be.
At Geneva I mentioned to a fellow counterpart at Ferrari about the Lambo SUV and whether Ferrari would follow? I was told in this very cutting answer no because "We are Italian!, Lamborghini is German".

I don't know about saying that the R8 and the SLS are yesterdays car, because I am personally a HUGE BMW and more specifically an ///M fanatic but those 2 cars specifically are stunning in both appearance and performance in my opinion. Neither look outdated or perform in any outdated way at all.
