Just figured it would look silly shifting a steptronic trans that can do it automatically. I'd feel like a poser.

MT for me. If I had to live in LA again, I'd get a 2nd car with auto for a commuter car.

Not too surprising. More autos are sold than manuals (90% in the US alone). Since this is an enthusiast board a disproportionate number of manuals will be listed here. Thus the number would even out. I even suspect manuals will overtake autos since this is an enthusiasts board.

Plus this Poll has been taken every few weeks if you search for it.

Manuals are for those that enjoy more driver involvement.

I love my MT, but when I am really tired (like for a late night errand) I love driving my wife's steptronic.

I'd snag a dsg in a heartbeat. Never loved the smg I test drove.

When I decided to buy an E90, I had to place a custom order. One of the main reasons was due to my requirement of a manual transmission. Apparently, most of the cars in the North Jersey/NYC area with manual transmissions are "base model" cars with very few options. The salesman was shocked that I would get a highly optioned car without an automatic transmission.

Even though I drive in a high traffic area, I don't find it difficult at all.

I don't have any yet but i will get a step. It's not a matter of preference for me, it's more of a need.

Btw, if i were to get a manual, i will get an e36 M3. Don't see too much point in getting a e90 manual sedan and drive like a sports car when it's not.

My thoughts exactly. If I were to get a sports car like e36 m3 or E46(even though SMG is great), or even a S2000, I would sport it with 6spd manual tranny.

I don't feel like shifting in a luxury sedan. Its also harder to sell later down the road. Now, if I was able to buy a twin turbocharged E92 335 coupe... emm..

Ditto!

I just leaned the vote in our favor:
Manual Transmission (6MT) - 76 - 50.33%
Automatic Transmission (6-spd Steptronic) - 75 - 49.67%
