On the pre-release testing for this, was any oil passed through to the outlet tube? It would be interesting to see pictures of the inlet and outlet tubes after running, or even better a swab of the outlet tube.

Received my OCC in the mail today...Install was straight forward and pretty easy, even if your a novice.
Just got the 7" ETS FMIC installed last week so I needed to pair it with its significant other (OCC). We will see how it does over the next few months.

Got mine and noticed doesnt come with hose clamps... Should i bother getting them, or no one seeing any oil seepage?

Are these functional with the RB?

They should be. I don't believe RBs have anything to do with the PCV system. Pressure might be a little different but probably not noticeable.

Someone with more knowledge should chime in though

Per the guide clamps aren't suggested. The hose is a tight fit on the PCV side and on the intake side there shouldn't be much if any oil to worry about. And those with larger turbos like the RBs definitely will like this OCC! More power = more blowby = more crud getting back in to the turbo inlet.

Saw this posted and thought many running the BMS OCC would like to see it...

Here's what my old OCC use to catch after one month of hard driving:

So the conclusion is that the BMS OCC works very good, and it'll be very interesting to see how much it'll catch when the snow and ice are gone from the roads.

Mike does BMS offer the mounting bracket that is pictured in the first page of this thread? I think I like that one more than the production version, looks more symmetrical. anyway I see that my BMS catch can shiped today excellent work on behalf of BMS, super speedy shipping from mike@N54 tuning!

The square cut one didn't fit, cowl would not fully seat. So they went to the offset rounded one for production. With the cowl on you can't see it anyway.

Yea those hoses are definitely a tight fit. If oil creeps by , I'll just throw a clamp on. No biggie.

I was impressed with the one pieced solid machined design. I could mock up the same thing in solidworks, and it'd cost me more to machine it than to buy from BMS. You guys must have great prices with machine shops.

Pressure drop was low. I tested at 15PSI but couldnt supply enough volume of air to test accurately. This actually means that the can is very free flowing, which gets a thumbs up in my books so far.

Careful with the clip on the PCV side, mine broke quite easily. Also, I trimmed off some of the insulation from the engine cover right under the 180 degree bend hose. It squished it a little bit upon install, I may trim the plastic side off the cover to let it rest more freely.

Cheers

You might be able to remove anodization with oven cleaner or some caustic acids/bases. I would do an internet search, but I think it can be done without harming the underlying aluminum.

I checked my BMS OCC today, and this is the catch from the last 3 months with 16 psi, no meth. Pretty easy driving.

It'll be interesting to see the catch when I'm boosting 18 psi with meth on the airfield events this year!

will the OCC reduce or eliminate carbon-build-up?

One of the areas you need to balance when doing catch can design is the internal baffle. It can't be too restrictive or you'll have crankcase pressure problems yet still has to create enough turbulence to allow oil to condense out or you won't catch anything. I know many catch can makers hide their baffles away inside a welded can but on the BMS oil catch can the baffle is right there for you to see. It's even removable. I think they really hit the nail on the head with this new two stage internal baffle. It's a very free flowing design yet still provides excellent oil/vapor separation.

It will slow it down but definitely not eliminate it
