95 for me..
I've pumped 4-5 consecutive tanks for 98.. didn't feel any power difference or notice any extra mileage. Went back to 95 after that. I don't see how a difference of 3 octane will do anything bad to the engine? |

Though it is probably ok for a stock car, would still go for 98 on a turbo car... |

Hi
Thank you everyone for your guidance - I am very glad I asked. Looks like once this tank is empty I will be filling up with 98... I agree that the additional cost over a year for the better quality fuel isn't that great compared to what I paid for the car in the first place and I should look after it. I appreciate your help. |

I have been told (by Steve) that I should always use 98 RON and do a yearly oil change if want to keep the cars engine in good shape. He was telling me about a car that went completely bad because the owner used cheap petrol and used the BMW car computer as a guide for oil changes!

Absolutely! It still impresses me 18 months after I had it installed. It may be a 'small' upgrade but it really does add more punch to the car's performance than what its numbers suggest. Best ever na I6 upgrade for me as I chipped my E36 320i with slight gain, but my E46 323i was not receptive to modding, so I had to have the tune reversed and left it at stock power.

I prefer the premium fuel as well but I'm not sure why, with the Shell V-Power I've noticed that sometimes the car takes a few goes to start in the morning. However with BP ultimate the car start first time every time :
I also have the PBX installed in my 325i and the throttle response is so much better than stock! Not sure if other PBX owners experience this but sometimes it feels like the PBX switches off so I have to reset it then all is good again.

^^ The car starts for a split second then dies. When I push the start button again all is good.
It seems to randomly happen (once every 15 or so starts) when I have to fill up with Shell V-power and when the car has been off overnight. I've wasted money a few times at BMW and an independent trying to diagnose the problem but they keep assuring me the cars fine. I've accepted now it may be normal for the car to sometimes take a few goes to start.. Shell V-Power being the cause is probably just in my head, just like the PBX feeling like it sometimes switching off lol

No offense cause it's probably just my bad luck but I've found BMW's nothing but problems and money down the drain! I also have an E60 which I bought new and has around 25,000km's, and you'd be amazed at all the problems I've had with that car.. The most heart braking part is I love and baby the cars but the cars don't love me back lol It looks like I might take my chances and go down SBC's route

Nice car you have mate I'm still working on the missus to get a C63.. I almost convinced her but the E60's iDrive decided to shit itself so I had to fork out more $$$ to have that fixed before I can trade or sell it.. The sound of the C63 alone is such a turn on lol I haven't heard it in real life but with an aftermarket exhaust I reckon it would sound awesome!

@ Cruvon - I did have the battery replaced about a year ago but I don't think it was a high capacity one. The car still goes good so I'll live with it, for now..
