Really??? physical damage??
I have ActiveCruse control on my e92 and it just stop working so I just went to dealer and get service under warranty. they said its physical damage so they will not fix it and they charge me for labor that they worked on it ($250). I just want you guys look at this picture and seems like physical damage? looks like jut cover is missing. should i try another dealer??? what do you guys think??

Hard to tell from the picture
Hard to tell from the picture
On first look it looks like nothing has touched it. But what is the shadow in the lower hemisphere. Its a very rare and expensive option so you might have trouble finding anybody knowledgeable on it. |

To me, it looks amiss. Even though the trim cover is missing, it seems far too hazy for it to be useful. I feel like something must have hit it, caused a crack somewhere (whatever caused you to lose the cover perhaps?) and water intruded the sensor unit. $250 in labor, for not doing anything to fix it, however, is bullshit. But it could be expensive to replace...just a warning :/

Better to post good quality picture to be able to tell. But you can look at it yourself can see any physical outside damage if present at all. This doesn't need any expertise in my opinion.
You shouldnot have never taken it for warranty repair when the cover was missing. It gives them a clue. Just get a cover and then you may want to give a try at another dealership. It is quite expensive part, I have been using it since past 4 years now and so far no problem. Good luck.

I have seen plenty of those units go bad due to road debrit. The lense cover gets so road rashed and you can't buy just that part. I recommend to everyone to clear bra the lens to protect it.
