My lame 1mph accident on video - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

Was going to record an exhaust vid, drove about 30 seconds before getting hit.

A girl in a Jeep Liberty decided to randomly back up while in the line to exit a pay garage. She had insurance and admitted fault. This is the 6th time someone has backed into me for no good reason, and the 3rd time that it was by someone who was supposed to be going forward. Seriously, backup sensors/cameras need to be mandatory. Her damage was a scratch.

Initial estimates are $4800 from a body shop.

Broken radiator mount, broken headlight (with OSS), bent hood, damaged bumper. It's hardly noticeable from pics, but the damage is there.

Sorry to hear about the accident (especially OSS) I had a gf who drove a liberty and it scared the sh!t out of me every time I rode with her.

I feel bad for you for having someone back into you cuz I had someone do the same to me. But of course the lady's insurance, geico, quoted 1,680.00, I took it to a high end body shop and ended up being 5,000.00 with the rental. ;-)

No, she was the 2nd person in a line to EXIT and randomly decided to go backwards instead of forwards. She admitted to "not even looking"

I hit the horn as soon as I saw her coming back. No way I could've thrown it into reverse and shocked my drivetrain while I'm at it in that time.

Just wondering but how far back were you stopped from her? Still her fault for not even bother to look before reversing but I always try to keep a half car length away in these type of situations at a drive through, stop light, stop & go traffic ect..... Might have prevented this unless she really hit the gas pedal when she switched to reverse. Also helps for the people who drive older manual transmission cars without the hill assist.
