logging with Cobb AP
I looked around to try to find a "how-to", but couldn't find something that told me what I want to know.
Basically, if I want to log some runs with my tune on my car, what parameters should I turn on in the Cobb menus. Then, what am I looking for when I take a look at it. Here is a run that I tried earlier, but I'm just wingin it so to speak. Thanks. i changed the .csv file to a .doc file... |

Does it matter which cylinder? Should I pick more than one?

so here is my data. looking at the timing it seems to slowly climb. The boost never goes much over 14 psi. What else am I looking at? What would be a warning sign?

Seems clean. Is this stage 1 sport?
I usually log timing on all cylinders. you want to also add Charge air temperature, TPS. WGDC is nice to have as well

That is v401 aggressive, stage I. I just clicked on a few buttons and hit go on the way home from work. I'll try a few more later this week. My friend has downpipes and FMIC and let me take his for a ride yesterday... I think I need to do some more upgrading...

tps = throttle position sensor. So why does in end at 80% Does that mean i have another 20% to go?!?! I am going to go look under my pedal and see what's jamming it up (i'm only half joking, I may just go look) Someone fill me in here...

wgdc = wastegate duty cycle. What does this graph even represent? I thought the wastegates just were open or closed. And on full throttle I would think fully closed. Again, I need someone to fill me in....

I don't think we have a solution at this time (ATR). Assuming it is due to hardware (stiff wastegates) and can't be optimized with OTS tune. Also, I mostly see people posting single gear cool night logs. I rarely get timing drops on a single or two gear pulls, but if I let it heat soak and push it with multiple-gear pulls (ex 3-4-5), I am likely to get timing drops on fifth gear. Is that acceptable?

I typically log the following, which is a mild departure from the parameters suggested by Cobb in their AccessTUNER tuning guide:
RPM (RPM) Accel Ped. Pos TPS Act Req. Boost Abs. (PSI) Boost Mean Abs (PSI) Boost (PSI) WGDC Bank 1 Charge Air Temp Timing Cyl. 1 Timing Cyl. 2 Timing Cyl. 3 Timing Cyl. 4 Timing Cyl. 5 Timing Cyl. 6 Lambda (Bank1) (AFR) Lambda (Bank2) (AFR) STFT (Bank 1) STFT (Bank 2) Torque Limit Active Fuel Mode The reason I don't log timing correction is that I can deduce that from the timing in 1-6 as it is. It's imperative you log all cylinders, because a single cylinder pulling timing means next to nothing, but seeing 3+ cylinders with reduced timing is an issue, one that might be missed logging just 1 or 6. Reference, Cobb's tuning guide: http://www.cobbtuning.com/v/vspfiles...FinalAlpha.pdf

Thanks. Nope, forgot about traction control... Didn't think it was an issue on an xi in 3rd gear...

I do my logging with DTC off, and don't see the reason why disabling DSC would make any difference on smooth highway straight line pulls. However, I did some logs today with fully disabled DTC+DSC and still get load overshoots with corresponding throttle closures (highway speeds).
The tune feels great otherwise, but it would be perfect without the boost spikes. I am currently attributing my timing pulls to the last 2 injectors that were not replaced with the recall. Those two cylinders are usually more noisy than the others.
