I've had a few mistake my 06 (05 build date) E90 as being an 09 or so. Obviously not enthusiasts, but safe to say I was pleasantly surprised.

OP, guilty as well lol. My gf makes fun of me for it. As I walk away from the car, I look back at it at least 3 - 4 times. She mocks and says "yep its still there!"

Do it all the time. I catch myself grinning from ear to ear too. From time to time I like to half throttle it, spool the turbos and then lift under an overpass and let the exhaust just bark real loud and almost do a "mwhahaha". Love this car...

I def agree though the 3 series always has aged very well. My boss recently sold his 95 Dakar Yellow M3. We made some modifications to it. And when rolling down the road behind that thing. It definitely was "dated" styling wise, but it was just awesome watching it cause it still looked fantastic. And instead of the old Mercs where they do look dated. E36 M3 just looks classic now. For me when you see one kind of get the same feeling when you see a classic Mustang or Bel Air. "Your like man they don't style cars like that anymore what a timeless design."
