2009 335i CPO body work done, worth it?
I have been searching for a while and the dealer contacted me the other day about a 2009 335i CPO that they have (43k miles, Sports, Premium, Nav, Comfort Access, Titanium/Black) that they just got back from a lease, their price is $33,000 for it. When I asked for some pictures, they said that they had to send it out to a body shop for some bumper repair, and it will have a damage disclosure.
Should I stay away knowing that it had body damage, or is it probably nothing major since they were able to CPO it? What should I look for when inspecting it? If I check it out and it looks good, how much should I offer considering the damage? I was thinking $27k, is that too low? |

Trade in on that vehicle is about $25k, add $2k for CPO and you're at $27k. That's what they have in it. Of course they probably paid less since it was damaged, and they need to turn a profit so $27-28k seems reasonable.
How bad was the damage? Just the bumper? Did parts behind the bumper get damaged? Is there frame damage? |

Could just be a respray to cover up rock chips in the paint or something. Unless it was major I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I think some dealers give their CPO's a fresh coat of paint on the front/rear bumpers, makes the cars look almost new again.
My car was CPO'd and had front and rear bumpers painted, not due to damage but just to freshen up the car

According to numerous SA's I have spoken to, no car can be a CPO if it has been in an accident. The damage being fixed is most likely from someone simply bumping into the car, or backing into something.
Every car they get in would need some form of work done to it at the body shop, its impossible to not have one dent with 43k miles that needs to be corrected. The price they are asking is too much. I would offer the $27k. They will not jump right to that, be prepared for them to turn it down. When they do walk. Use edmunds, clearbook.truecar.com, and the like to get the correct pricing for your area with all the options, condition, and use of the car you are looking to buy. |

as long as clean carfax with the damage sounds good to me.....probably just to respray bumper cause it has chips and nickes....with 43K on a 2009 sounds like a decent amount of highway driving
