What would you do?
I purchased my car around 5 months ago. So far, I have performed only aesthetic mods, and they are as follows:
Aero lip Flat black kidney grills Flat black lower grills Delete amber front reflectors GP Thunder 8500k bulbs White LED side marker bulbs (turn signal) Plastidip chrome around windows to flat black I've got around $1000 available and trying to decide what to do next. I haven't done any performance mods, but I don't know a whole lot about what mods yield the greatest results on these cars or what order to mod things. I've also got some more aesthetic mods I'm hoping to do. I'm basically wondering what mods some of you would do next if you had this setup and a thousand bucks available.

Would a cobb tuner be a good idea? I've been eyeing that for a while

I see the JB4, when paired with a dual cone intake, costs around $600. The Cobb, which doesn't come with any similar intake, is almost $900. The end result numbers look similar. Any particular reason that anybody knows of for this large difference in price? Is it because the Cobb doesn't have to be installed and can be changed on the fly?

i have cobb i like it alot. its easy to install and uninstall if need be. also if you end up not liking it you can make pretty much all the money back on it. I have a few friends with JB4 and they have nothing but good things to say about it.

With $1000 for Performance:
JB4 with DCI combo: $600 VRSF Downpipes: $385 With $1000 for Cosmetic (A few options): OSS Headlights $600 M Sport rear bumper/diffuser $Varies (Paint/Install/Brand etc) M3 lip spoiler $150 LCI Taillights $Not sure EDIT JB4 maps can be changed on the fly, and are probably easier than COBB as you use the steering wheel buttons

I've never heard the downpipes in person. I just watched a few videos demonstrating the sound, but it's hard to judge through computer speakers. Are they really loud and obnoxious? I don't want to sound ricey.
Also, I emailed OSS for a quote today too. I would do the full interior blackouts to match all my flat black accents. I was basically thinking either OSS headlights and M3 side skirts or Cobb. Seems like you guys have said mostly the same stuff. I also want to upgrade the OEM wheels, but that's more than 1000. My third option would be to save up a little more and do that.

Not to sound like a dick, but id just use the search button before blindly buying things based off of a couple guys' opinions. If you don't know what things do or why they're priced differently, you're not ready to purchase them.

OP - since you claim you "don't know a whole lot" about performance mods, do your research before buying/modding your car. Don't just slap on a tune, intake, downpipes blindly and not understand the benefits and drawbacks of those mods. For $1000 I would buy better tires or suspension before doing any power mods, you will get more use out of those. This is advice from a guy who spent over $20,000 in mods on his car, including every performance mod you can think of.

Searching is your friend OP and your not the first person to ask what to do. I would do whatever you want to do next to your car, afterall, its your car not ours. |
