Dang, this is a bit scary for me, as I just picked up a used 335i that is out of warranty. The PPI that I had done said that the car was mostly good to go. did you get a PPI before you purchased?

Mine's modded, but I had BMW do it. Warranty preserved!

I did the PPI myself; I'm pretty mechanical... and I've owned 4 other BMWs (starting with a 1974 3.0cs that I restored in the mid-90s). I called BMW gave the VIN and they said that is was a leased car originally and all the maintenance had been done as required by various dealers.

The Carfax showed the car was leased in New York in 2008; in August of 2011 it was traded back to a BMW dealer here in CO by the original lessee on another BMW. It then bounced between 2 BMW dealers in the Denver area then was sold at auction to the independent used dealer I bought from.

Head on over to the FI section and tell them that you agree that modding a leased car is a victimless crime.

I don't believe in aftermarket engine mods while warranty is in place.
On a leased car? What are people, crazy?
On a leased car, if they detect a mod, they can make you "make them whole" if anything happens because you are just "renting" the car.

People who mod leased cars are simply, stupid.

Um no! I can chime in here since I've actually done upgraded RB turbos on my car. All said and done, you are looking at $5,500 with the install for upgraded twin turbos and probably closer $10K if you are going to do the single route. Adding any sort of upgraded turbo makes no sense whatsoever if the OP wants to remain stock. You need FBO+Meth at a minimum to go this route.

That being said. Find yourself a good independent mechanic or do the work yourself. It's not a hard install, just very tedious. Check out the forsale forum or buy some new OEM turbos from Tischer - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=550485

- $1200 ($600 each) for the turbos
- $400 for hardware ($200 if you use current oil lines)
- $800-1600 for labor
Total - $2200-3200

Does it surprise anyone that the dealer I bought the car from won't call me back? I haven't even told anyone why I was calling; just that I want to talk to the owner that negotiated the price with me.
What!!! You found the only disreputable used car dealer in CO. Seriously though, that blows. I read turbo replacement in the Bently manual and it doesn't look that hard but if you don't have access to a lift I wouldn't do it.

I think what you get from OEM, including Tischer, are remanufactured. That is why the price has come down. Cores are available.
