Scam warning - 24sevenpccare.com

Just had a call from one of these scam merchants wanting to "check" my computer for "problems"

I went along with it for a while....

Basically I have major issues on my computer according to the Indian guy calling from "Manchester" and he wants me to do the needful, and connect me to his Microsoft Certified Engineers to be able to fixings the problems.... ha ha

I've worked in IT for years, and am a security analyst, so had great fun with this scam merchant for half an hour, then told him he doesn't know what he's on about and that he's trying to scam people, at which point he called me an ass hole and hung up

So, just a quick warning to let anyone know that isn't savvy regarding these scam merchants, to avoid anyone from www.24sevenpccare.com

Cheers

I have had them call me before 15 years in IT made for an interesting call when they told me I had requested them to call me and help me with my windows.

Then I asked them how he got my name and telephone number and he said when you registered windows online So I said well that's a bit difficult as I have a Mac.

Funny enough the line went dead.

My mum had these or similar on the phone the other week. Luckily she asked me about it before they rang back.

What's their motive? Expensive and bogus ongoing support? Or access to possible email/contact/bank details?

Someone in work had a call and he gave them access, when he asked if they where from the companies IT Dept they hung up. They had talked him into giving access via remote desktop connection, we don't even use that I am shocked that he didn't twig!

My neighbours Dad got caught out by them. He paid 100 for the pleasure of loading their Malware onto his computer. Tit!

They call our house quite often saying that they are from Microsoft and have spotted a fault on our Windows. My wife usually tells them that is clever since we now run Macs.

Yea some dudes called me about my windows too. We chatted for a while and agreed a fair price. 40 all in. The even used the ladder to the ones in the loft. Nice and shiny now.

I had a very similar call. Said I was getting my dad and used the fonejacker app on him.

I think he thought Brian Badondae was having a wank when I pressed the 'bo!' button.

Anyway I went through the characters one by one and then it turned a bit nasty when the guy started saying 'I want to f**k your wife's pussy'. I then asked him if he thought this was appropriate and what his boss would think. He said he was the boss and he thought it was ok to say that to customers.

...just noticed this was a thread dredge.
