Anyone live close to Fort Lauderdale Florida? Need car looked at will pay some money.

Like the subject says, Im checking out a car im interested to buy but its in Fort Lauderdale Florida and im in NJ. Car would have to be bought sight unseen as I cannot get off to fly down or anything.

If anyone who lives in the area can go check out the car for me, Take tons of detailed pics maybe document any scratches , door dings, smells, stains, pretty much give the car an in depth once over.

Its a used 2009 BMW 328i, so I want to be sure of everything and I dont want to only go by the dealers word.

Let me know guys I will compensate you for your time!

They want 22,9... Its real leather sport package, no premium.. 55k miles NO WARRANTY.

Heres the car :

Does anyone know if 2009's still have a chance to get the Cylinder head issue? I had a friend who works at a BMW dealer run the VIN he said no warranty work has been done. I def dont wanna buy one out of warranty that may need a cylinder head at like $7000

Thanks,

My dad has a repair shop in Fort Lauderdale. You can perhaps give him a call and the owner of the vehicle can bring it by for him to inspect it. We specialize in repairs of european vehicles so we know these kind of vehicles. If you're interested you can give him a call on his cell at: 954-560-1690. His name is Dilip. Tell him Jesse(son) referred you and talk to him. You can call today between 1030-12 or after 4. Let me know. Good Luck too.

Corporate Cars is a small independent used car dealer(right down the block from our facility, we used to do services on their vehicles.) and they don't provide warranty. Hence them selling the vehicle with no warranty. But if you get the vin# do call your local BMW dealer and provide vin and see if vehicle is still under manufacturer warranty.

Only worry would be cylinder head ( 7,000 to repair ).

Is this common on 328's?

Are you planning on keeping this car for a long time?

If not, buy it beat it around for a little bit and sell that bad boy.

Or at least that's what I'd do.

Well id plan to keep for 3 years or so, Yes this is the most common and only major issue the 328's have is cylinder head needing to be replaced and if the problem happens ( its very common ) its 7k to fix outside of warranty.

7k to do the head. Damn, maybe we should raise prices then haha. To do a rebuilt head on this vehicle would cost around $3000. Whoever you taking the car to is ripping you off. And as for the 328i its a normal condition for any bmw. To avoid blowing the head just don't overly beat on the car and watch coolant level(engine bay side) and coolant temperature(dash display) and you'll be fine.

This is just what my buddy says it cost through the dealership when the issue arises. Im sure at a private mechanic you can get the same quality work done for less. There was a big problem ( from what I hear from him and others ) with alot of heads being replaced but not enough for a recall. Im just trying to be cautions.

Ok, well then yeah that sounds about right. The dealership is a rip-off if you take it without warranty. And by ppi your talking about payment protection insurance or property protection insurance..both are different.

Niether ( Pre Purchase Inspection ) pretty much if I find a used car I can pay and have the the current owner or small used car lot owner bring the car to BMW for a fee and have them give it a top to bottom review so I know more what im getting myself into.

its not required but highly recommended when you buy a car. but to be on the safe side might as well spend an extra $100-$150 bucks and have a full inspection done at a BMW dealership if you'd like. Lauderdale BMW/Mini dealer is 5 minutes or less from where the vehicle is located. So it should be no problem for them to take the car their for an inspection. You would just have to call to make an appointment with the dealer.

My main concern is to get a good car at the price I like.. To try and minimize on issues and get a good car in a location I cant physically be at im hoping this plan works for me to eliminate any or most suprises.

My Plan

Spoke with a forum member whos owned an E90 for 5 years and is familiar with the ticking problem and common wear/problem areas.
He will be going to look at the car in person + startup and take for a quick drive.

If it passes the visual / basic test ( just a visual nothing scientific ) then ill talk to the dealer and see if they will bring to the local BMW dealer
for a full inspection at my expense..

If it passes the PPI then I will make an offer and only then would I agree to buy and possibly take a trip down and drive back or pay to have it shipped back.

Ive already had the VIN looked up in BMW's computer system and it has no BMW History which a little bit of a negative.. Only concerns are the cylinder head but its a late 09 so maybe its remedied. It has 55k miles.

Any other suggestions / tips would be greatly appreciated in my search for a clean and nice used car.
