Unfortunately I don't do retrofit coding (probably could, but haven't done the required research and don't want to work on other people's cars until I'm 100% sure I'll know what I'm doing), but once you get PM capabilities, contact Mike Benvo, who has a remote coding solution and should definitely be able to help with that. He's not free, but he does good work. And welcome to the forums!

I'd start with the local BMW CCA chapter website: www.tejaschapter.org. Austin (technically Leander) also has a Cars & Coffee, which isn't just BMW, but you can run across some pretty cool cars and people there: http://austin.carsandcoffee.info/. And if you're interested in the track (if not, try it once and you will be! ) check out www.thedriversedge.net. They host events on tracks all over Texas, and they're great. Solid format, very educational, great instructors and participants, and just lots of fun all around. And no, you don't need an M car or even a modded car to be on the track, at least not in the beginner run group.

I would like to have some coding done to my E90. So far i have removed the disclaimer for idrive and enabled video in motion. Looking to remove the seat belt chime and check out what other features can be enabled. Any help is much appreciated.

The stuff I can code is listed in one of my earlier posts in this thread. Disabling the chime is easy. Feel free to PM me to set up a time.

Neutrino, John,

I'm looking for someone in town to help me with some basic coding (mirror fold w/ fob, DVD in motion, disable seatbelt chime, etc.). If you guys can hit me up at Duong625@yahoo.com. I'm a newbie here so the forum will not let me pm quite yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That would be coding and a software update. Mike Benvo in this forum can help you with that remotely, though I believe you'll want a battery tender for that process since iDrive updates can take a long time, but Mike will know for sure.

John,

Thanks a million for coding my car this past weekend. Had a good time in Austin. I'll definitely keep in touch if I ever make it back over there soon.

If anyone would be willing to code my car it'd be much appreciated. Looking at basic stuff (does the mirror just require coding?)

PM me if you're willing to come down to Austin. I'm not sure about what you mean by "the mirror", but if you're referring to being able to fold the mirrors with the fob, then yes that's just coding -- assuming of course you have folding mirrors in the first place.

Big thanks to John for coding my car today! Everything works great, and it took less than 30 minutes. John is very familiar with the most popular coding features and most of our time was spent talking about cars while we waited for the modules to update.

I am looking to get my 2011 335i M-Sport coded as well, anyone in the Austin area still doing it?

Also looking at getting the Alpina B3 transmission flash, willing to pay

Does anyone know if I can code the doors to unlock passenger door as well as the drivers side when I use the comfort access system? Taking out my key for the passenger is such a hassle

Can't do the Alpina flash, but can do coding and don't charge. Which doors open when the car is coded to unlock the doors when you turn the engine off depends on how you've configured your unlock preferences. If you have it set so that pressing Unlock on your fob once opens only the driver's door and you have to press it again to unlock all doors, then only the driver's door will unlock when you turn the engine off. If you have it set to unlock all doors on the first press, then all doors will unlock when you turn the engine off.

Well, add another feature to the list of stuff I can code: Euro Active Head Lamps, aka AHL2 or "Variable Light Distribution". Basically your head lamps when in Auto mode will project a wider, shallower beam at lower speeds and a longer, narrower beam at higher speeds. It's not nearly as cool as the no-dazzle high beams that can be coded on US-spec F Series cars, but it's still free additional functionality, and since we already paid for the hardware that enables this stuff, we may as well use it. You can read more about it here, and if anyone local is interested in getting this done, I would of course be happy to help them out. And if you're a DIY coder, I already posted in that thread how to enable it yourself.

I don't yet know exactly which models support this. You definitely need active head lamps, but it's possible that this additional AHL2 functionality may be limited to certain model years. Right now I just know that my car supports it, but confirming the functionality is an easy test, so if people start coming to me for this to increase my sample size, I'll update with any additional information.
