335i's on college campuses - ATL
I live in the Lawrenceville area and I go to University of Oklahoma and will be transferring back home to GA state next year. I am very interested in buying a modded 335i this summer. I will be living in a gated apartment building on GA state campus near the dorms. I was wondering if it is somewhat safe in that area. I don't want to risk something happening to a nice car. Also, are there a lot of nice modded cars rolling around downtown? I haven't been there enough to see it much. Thanks.

I live in lawrenceville currently. Welcome back to GA. I don't see why you should have a problem with your car downtown around school.

I go to Georgia Tech, and it's fine as long you park your car in a gated lot. i would also look at a police map, and pick a spot where there hasn't been a lot of car break-ins and car thefts.

Yeah I'm always worried about that too. Get a set of wheel locks. I use Rad locks because they are less common. A lot of thieves actually have the keys to oem BMW wheel locks, so I wouldn't trust them that much. You could also look into this company called rimlox if you're really worried.

Downtown is really no worse for car theft than anyplace 30 miles from downtown. And modded cars really aren't at any more risk, they'll steal whatever they happen to be into at the time.
The main place where I see the most nice cars is in Buckhead. If you're in Lawrenceville and want to see my modded 135 it's in the Discover Mills parking lot regularly. My optometry office is inside the mall two doors down from Medieval Times.

Ya, Iv seen peoples cars on blocks in really nice neighborhoods. They can't get you anywhere if they really want to. Get the BMW alarm since it has the tilt sensor if it helps feel better.
I want to check out your 135! Lol |

I think you'll be fine as long as you exercise some common sense - don't leave anything valuable in the car, especially out in the open (GPS, radar detector, etc.).
Also get the OEM alarm and aftermarket wheel locks like everyone said. |
