I think gift cards (of any value) are actually a really good idea. Especially if you don't know what to get for someone. There's also double the fun. Getting the gift itself, and then going to the store and using it (more so if you're a woman

Yeah, but it still hard then to figure out which place to get the gift card. I guess the best way would be to get those gift cards that are good in any store at the mall.

i think gift cards are easy but i think they're SO impersonal. its worse than giving money IMO. its liek saying HEY IM TOO LAZY TO GO FIND U A REAL GIFT SO HERSE A GIFT CARD. you might as well just give money cause at least with money, they can spend it on what store they want. so not only are u sayingyou're lazy.. you're also saying HAH! u can only buy stuff at THIS store. like.. recently.. for xmas.. a friend got me a $25 ITUNES card.. yaa too bad i download all my music illegaly already -- i dont need that 25$ itunes card.. it would have been better of just 25$ cash..

but acutally just i dont like gift cards and money ... impersonal!! impersonal!! for ppl that matter.. put a little effort into it

i always get things when i see it and it reminds me of a certain person. ;]

lol i've never really talked to anyone about going shopping, so i don't know. all of my friends are guys, so they just say "we're going into some store right now" haha.

gift cards actually can cause problems with financial reporting for companies

most gift cards aren't used, or aren't fully used and companies can't just take value away from these cards due to inactivity.

big companies end up with millions of unused gift card dollars

why isthat a problem for them? because i mean.. the person who purcahsed the gift card already put money into the company so does it even matter if the gift cards are used?

yaa i have liek 4 unused gift cards in my wallet. ill prob never use them either.

the problem is that they have millions of dollars worth of value that could be at any time exchanged for goods/services

all the money left on gift cards can't be claimed as profit as it could eventually be turned in for goods, so they have millions of dollars that they're holding but can't claim as profit yet. it makes it impossible for them to do anything with the money they've taken in for the gift cards, and they end up having millions of dollars just sitting that they can't do anything with
