Syndiesel / Race Diesel thoughts?

Thinking of picking up a 5 gallon drum of syndiesel and mixing with 5 gallons of regular pump ~45 cetane diesel to use at the track? Chance of harming the car if I use this blended mix? Chance it will add power? JBD set at 95% currently.... I know I need the blend with pump diesel since the syndiesel doesn't have any lubricants.

You will be fine if you you run it blended, that's what it is for. I was going to do the same before I went to the track the last time; good thing I didn't waste the money because I could not get the power to the pavement anyway.

PS: I would still probably add a supplemental lubricant though since it will reduce the wear scar of the pump diesel, something like diesel kleen or similar.

I wonder how Premix works to add lubrication?

I know those rotary guys use it for their wankels...

scott, please tell me where u are finding 45 cetane diesel to begin with. Around me all I see is 40 cetane rating.

Syndiesel and BMW 335d

OK so you are drag racing. We should get a little competition going with the Syndiesel drivers!

OK here is some free advice, you can run Syndiesel straight in your engines with the addition of a lubricity additive (any one will work). Your engines will sense the higher cetane and make the appropriate adjustments.

These engines run best on 52-55 cetane diesel which is not readily available here. You can assume that our diesel is 40 cetane, so you can have 34% pump diesel and 66% Syndiesel to make 55 cetane (approx).

How about you guys get organized into a class and I will throw in some swag for prizes?

This is very cool - I might just buy one of these to have my racing project manager, Greg Hogue send our driver Jordan Leighton, to see how she can do in just a 1/4 mile.

See us next at the Houston Half Mile Land Speen event, May 12th.

There are a few that do auto-x as well.

To clarify, the BMW 335d engine is tuned for up to 50 cetane, but will run on as low as 40 cetane; now obviously the engine is happier running higher cetane. In which case running anything higher than 50 cetane would likely yield little to no improvement.

I would love to try your product as I read several positive reviews from the VW TDI guys. I wish you guys were closer because the shipping cost is what kills it for me. Get your hands on a 335d and fall in love the torque!

in case i wanted to mix it and get something like 45-50 cetane rating? would i still need extra lubricant?

A LOT for a drum esp once you factor shipping, unless you can get it shipped to a business address w/loading dock.

Picked up 10 gal at Hyperfuels after reading this thread. I noticed a major difference in power with this juice, car felt awesome! Pricy but will buy again.
Sprint booster and JBD@100%

A major difference? How so?

How much of that 10 gallons did you mix in with a tank of diesel?

What lubricity additive did you use?

Mixed 5 gallons half and half no additive. Car ran great felt more responsive, noticed more rear wheel spin on take off in 2nd gear.

There is no lubricity additive in Syndiesel so the manufacuter recommends adding one when mixing with diesel; unless of course you like buying new fuel pumps and the like every once in a while.

Thought it was safe to run blended? "That's what it's for" So now your saying definietly add a lubricant. Jess can you please help me out with this!
