Unless you have the smart top mod you need to be standing in close proximity to the car for it to work.

yeah it should work. within proximity, and all windows must be auto up/down synchronized. other things are factors too, like batt voltage. perhaps when you close it the battery is ok from the car running and when you go to open it the battery has already drained a little? just an idea...

Yeah it works - sometimes it's jerky, sometimes it's flaky.
You practically have to be on top of the damn car though, and obviously need comfort access.
For how close you need to be, you may as well be sitting in it and hit the top lower and raise button at that point. Ask me how I know LOL

Smart top allows you to be further away and not to have to hold down the button (single press)

I'm glad for this thread. Comfort access is great. I can open or close the top with the key. But the manual does warn you about overdoing it. It takes a lot of battery power.

What I am having trouble with is trunk access with the top down. It says something like press trunk button then the open button and the roof is supposed to come partly up to allow access to your trunk (get briefcase, or whatever). It's not working for me. Maybe I have it wrong. Any ideas?

Sorry, but the Comfort Access fob has a non-rechargeable battery (CR2032), unless there has been a change for 2011. Does your manual give instructions on replacing the CA fob battery, or does it say to simply recharge it in the ignition like the non CA fob?

Me too. WTF? I really don 't care about CA, except that it's *supposed* to work, so I want it to. LOL.

Don't you have to put the key in to start the car?

Not if you have Comfort Access. Just have the key in your pocket, depress brake, and hit start button. Then drive.

As others have said, SmartTop removes this limitation (and others). If you have a cabrio, you owe it to yourself to get SmartTop--it's how the car should have come from the factory.

I too had this issue. To get perfect results every time, hold the key by the driver's side door and basically point it towards the middle of the car. Double click and hold the trunk button. In like four seconds, it should do it's trunk convenience access deal. Like they've said above, everything you do outside of the car has to be in *very close proximity* to the car otherwise you get flaky results. Stand close always and it should always work.

Mine works fine my but first mistake when i got the car was once things started happening (windows going down and top moving) I let go of the button. I learned you have to hold that sucker until everything is complete and locked tight.

Your windows aren't even going down? If so and the top doesn't move, suspect something...anything in the trunk area is blocking. I had the thinest piece of paper in a plastic bag in the trunk and the service department embarrassed me by finding it was the reason my top wasn't going down.
