OEM vs EXIDE battery?

So I know most of our cars battery is made by EXIDE. But there's a price difference between OEM from the dealer and EXIDE. A local shop quoted me around $200 for an EXIDE replacement and $300 for an OEM replacement, both priced with installation and registration of the new battery.

Is there really a difference between these two? I've always been a sucker for OEM parts but if is the same battery made by the same company, I could use that extra $100 for mods

Any input, guys?

Goto Autozone or Walmart and get a battery for $100. Find a local coder to register it for you for free/cheap.

As I mentioned (partially) in another thread, there are only a couple of manufacturers. The one I've heard the most problems with is Exide. Johnson Controls (JCI) has a good reputation but I had a number of them leak and have really poor seals at the cell caps. I've now gone with Deka/East Penn whenever I need a battery.

When my E90 needs a battery, it will be a Deka/East Penn AGM from their "OE Exact Fit" lineup.

I bought a new battery from walmart and never registered it and never had any problems. It has been over a year now.
