$13,000 between a 2011 new 328i vs. 2012 new 328i....

Guess what, I walked into the dealership and I found a 2011 328i sedan 6-speed with MSRP of $41,xxx.

Sport Package, Convenience Package, Value Package, Cold Package, etc

The salesman was able to offer me for $36,777 + tax & license + fee. What do you guys think? Is that a really good deal? That sound too good to be true. Unfortunately, I didn't check the invoice for this car so i can't say it is a must buy.

I have been looking for a Manual for 10 months and still looking. My last 328i got totaled.

After a while, I also saw a 2012 328i sedan Sport Line and went out for a test drive. The technology is really more attractive over the last generation especially the GPS and read out display are really impressive. However, ordering a new 2012 would cost me about $45,000.

If I let you get to choose, would you pick the Brand new 2011 328i sedan for $36,777 + tax + fee or the 2012 328i for $45,000 in terms of money saving. I can understand they both are different cars and maybe you will say they can't compare. But as a BMW driver, that is $13,000 difference.

Your opinion and comment are greatly appreciated. Let open for discussion!

Consider getting a 2010 cpo 335i sedan for that price

Of course I would want the new style but I don't want to wait for 3-4 months for the car and the only reason I consider 2011 is the price is cheaper. I would be more happy if I can find a CPO but there are none in my area.

I don't know what to say.. I mean if you are comfortable paying an extra 13k I say do it.. I would take an F30 over my e90 or any e90 all day. But if you are into modifying your car, think of everything you can do to an e90 for 13k.

I also can only imagine that the e90 will depreciate faster than the newer F30, because of the body style difference and lack of technology.

Anyway I'm sure whichever one you go with, you will be happy!

Thanks for your comment. I am still looking for a used one or might even buying a TDI (although the look can't compare to a bmw, but people say the engine and MPG are really good.) They both are germany car...

Hey, I am new to BMW, just bought my first one yesterday! I was also in the same position, the dealer had a 2011 and 2012 coupe (both 328i, the 2011 was xDrive). The 2011 was marked at 37,385 as the asking price with a total MSRP of 44,895. The 2012 was close to 45k i believe but I decided to get the 2011. Talked down to 36k and saved 10k to spend on things that are actually worth 10k.

Where did you learn math? By my calculation, the '12 is a little over $8k more. You need to decide if you will be satisfied with the old body style, because if you're not, you'll wind up buying the new one anyway.

To be fair, the coupe still looks the same whether a 2011 or 2012. The OP is looking at a sedan, which means two massively different cars. If it was me, I'd go for the 2012. You aren't going to pay MSRP for the 2012, and if you shop around you can probably find one for invoice (even if you order if from a dealer far away from you and then go there to get it).

You should just lease a 328i 2011, rates are very low.
I simply don't believe in buying brand new cars, 10min off the lot and automatically drops 2k in price.

If you insist on buying, consider one with around 10k miles on it, huge savings IMO.

Coagulation! What is the mileage on your new 2011? What does it comes with?

I usually change cars every 2 years. But if we are talking about the new 2012 F90, I would have to keep it for at least 5 years or longer. I know it is stupid to sell it so fast and that would lost a lot of money. However, I do not like to lease a car. Getting a used one would save me some money instead of paying MSRP for a new car. Just my 2 cents.

The 2011 handles better with more steering feel. All the bugs have been worked out too.

I'd say 2011 E90.

On the contrary, 13k modded on an n52 won't get you very far. Or at least, your budget will be spent gaining 10hp. If he's going strictly cosmetics, then definitely 13k would put him on creminz level.

I personally would go for the f30. You could always tune that thing, and i'm sure after a year or so, those who think its ugly will start to love it.

You sir are absolutely correct about the n52.. I should have specified I was talking about exterior modifications such as wheels, bumpers etc..

On the other hand I don't think 13k will put anyone by Creaminz' level... so much money, labor, and parts have gone into that beast.. I remember an older thread where he mentioned how much he had spent to date, and let's just say if you multiply that 13k by 7 or 8 then we would be kinda close lol

No offense to you NA guys but you'll get bored of the e90 328 pretty quick! The f30 motor will be fun to tune and you'll get actual power gains... There's only so much you can do to a e9x 328i...

Multiply by seven or 8! Maybe all the phases it's been thru all together. And still not that much. $100k is alot of money. Im sure you can achieve his current set up for around 30-40k. Even that seems like alot

The 2012 coupe had 56 miles and the 2011 coupe(xi) had 92 miles. Options were very similar, pretty standard, which I liked. I had no need for nav or all that BS, just need my leather/heated seats. Unfortunately they were both auto and the salesman said MTs are hard to come buy unless you custom or pre order it. I guess I can live with auto for a few years. If i really needed speed, I wouldve gotten a porsche lol.
