Corrosion warranty

Hi, Has anyone any info on getting BMW to repair a small paint bubble/blister caused by rust. I have noticed a tiny spot maybe 4mm across on my tailgate near the number plate and although it looks tiny now no doubt it will get worse. Can I claim on warranty as the car is not 3 years old yet.Cheers.

Go to dealer...

Whilst its still within the manufacturers warranty!

It may not be covered subsequently, the 10 year corrosion warranty is very limited!

One of my mates had the wings replaced on his E46 M3 a few months back due to corrosion inside the arch.

One wing you couldn't even notice yet.

Seemed no problem doing the job.

I had the exact same problem on my E91, just above the plate too. Took it to my dealer who repaired it under warranty without question.

Car was about 18 months old when i noticed it after the winter. Got a nice free courtesy car for 4 days while they did it.

Now i'm a real fussy bugger and as hard as i looked i honestly couldn't fault the job. Looked good as new when i got it back. Still no issues over a year later so i would say take it to your dealer and let them sort it.

Just had both the gutter rails (think they plastic not metal) replaced under warranty on the E92. I noticed that there was a fingernail sized blister on NS by the mirror & a tiny one on the OS. Car is 2.5 years old, took it to dealer, they ordered the parts, got them in/painted & booked it for repair in within a week, no questions asked

They did however manage not to refit a rubber seal on both sides which meant it had to go back again after I noticed a lot of wind noise & some rather ugly looking clips on show when you opened the doors. Q a lot of grovelling from service manager & a loan 5 M Sport while they rectified their fuck up after I complained in no uncertain terms about the standard of workmanship

thanks for your input fellas, looks like I,m off to the dealers again. They were very good about changing my door seal and air vents the other week so I,ll give them another go.Feel a bit like I,m making a lot of fuss over something very tiny but it can only get worse I suppose.
