took the car in for a regas at f1autocentres

rang an hour beforehand & asked if I needed to book it in or just turn up & was told we are quite busy regassing cars due to warm weather so give us an hour & we'll save you a slot.

Took 40 mins & car was hooked up to a machine that emptied the old gas, flushed the system, vaccumed it, measured the oil content, checked the condenser & pump & pipework for leaks etc.. installed the new gas ( 680 grammes !!) & ran an after temperature check at the vent as low 4C & still dropping after less than a minute.

Paid them 47 & had the air con on full blast (that button you press for max cooling) all the way home. It was uncomfortably cold after 15 minutes of driving & it never got that cold before so all in all well chuffed & if you car dont get really cold after 15 mins ( I mean really cold) it could be worth doing as the system looses 10% of its gas each year & my car is 5 & half years old now. Picked lad up from school on the way home & he made a comment as soon as he opened the door.

When I got home & stepped out of the car it was like getting off a plane when you go abroad as the heat hit me which was only 24C. Felt like I was living back in Cyprus again.....

Well chuffed.

Always happy to hear of good places/companies.

I tried Kwickfit once for aircon, had my suspicions beforehand; didn't turn out well, won't be going back.

My local BMW dealer's got the following offer:

http://www.lloydcarlislebmw.co.uk/service/aircon.html

Must admit I'd prefer BMW to do my aircon than many of these franchise chains
