Injen Dual Cone CAI
Hi,
I custom painted and installed injen dual cone. Two problems: 1. that vacuum tube ruins the whole looks, has anyone tried to shoved it under the intake, i tried but the hose is too short. will adding different length of tube mess up something. 2. There is absolutely no sound coming out of this CAI. i've checked for any leaks etc, all is nice and tight. i think the stock intake made more sound than this. nothing even close like some youtube videos posted there. For now i just enjoy the looks, that's all. i don't know if this mod is worth any money. pics attached. |

The Injen intake performs, but it's def not worth the money & problems it causes down the line if your interested in modding your car beyond a tune + intake. Specifically, if you got to add meth or change your charge pipe + DVs/BOVs, the Injen intake gets in the way of all the tubes + piping. Better off with an aFe intake or BMS DCIs

Mine looks and sounds great. Performs no better than any other dci...doesn't the afe actually lose power? Plus I love the Carb sticker for us Californians.

lol no, aFe does not lose power. Why would it lose power. I saw that people were saying that you'd lose power on a stock car (nobody will tell you you will lose power on a tuned car)... but that just makes no sense to me. How could a DCI make power and an aFe DCI not make power...

Well I read up on intakes with the search and there was a huge debate regarding the 1st gen afe intake which made huge hp claims but fell short. I just went for the Injen for the engine bay candy.

I'll pass. If I want to put Japanese car parts on my 335, please, someone revoke my BMW ownership privileges.
I'd rather do a Mr 5 style add-on.

I love my injen and I'm FBO with meth, no issues at all with it being in the way.

My Injen makes a bit more noise and I can definitely hear the turbo's spool unlike stock. Sold my POS AFE, it made no additional noise at all, but did look pretty decent.

So some DIY garage fabrication wins out over manufactured Japanese parts in keeping your BMW legit?

Also thought I would add that I have an Injen DCI with Forge DVs and an ER charge pipe and all three fit together nicely. Getting BOVs in there may be more difficult.
