What would you do?
Who said a 328 can't be as modded as a 325 or 330? Only difference is the 3-stage manifold and tune. The 335i on the other hand is a completely different beast. Even a slight adjustment in boost will yield more power than you can milk out of a NA n52. Ultimately it'll come down to what type of build you want -- cosmetics or performance.

I bought an '08 328i about a month ago, with no options whatsoever. I think it's as base as it gets in Canada. Has a sunroof and heated seats and stuff, but seats are manual and fake leather. Loving the 6-speed manual! It has great power if you stretch it's neck a bit, and plenty enough to get you busted anywhere. Totally happy with it. Only 42,000km on the clock.

Sorry my iPhone camera has had better days, this is a little blurry...

The N52 wont make a ton of power, but it doesn't need to. Dial in your suspension and get good tires, do a track day or two and go enjoy your car.
THIS.

It's not the Ultimate Straight Line Machine, it's the Ultimate Driving Machine. There's much more to driving than romping down on the loud pedal, but the teens and 20 somethings flock to it because it requires the least amount of skill.
