fuel pump 2007/2008

Hi,

I'm looking to purchase a 335xi, but had a question on the fuel pump --- has there been any fix implemented yet in production, or is the fix only provided to those that experience the failure?

If it's fixed in production, was that at a certain date point for the 2007, or was this fix only put into new production in '08?

I tried searching for this info, and came away w/ conflicting info. Best I could tell, there is a team of people @ BMW from the mfg, camped out there, trying to address it.

I saw addl' threads re: 'changes for 08' -- but I was wondering more along the lines of reliability changes, as opposed to 'option codes'.

Thanks for your help!

i doubt you'll have a fuel pump issue with the new 335is. I don't think any car company in the world is likely enough to make the same mass mistake twice. The fuel pump issues are being resolved right now with the people who do have it, so I think you're safe.

We'll see when the 2008 models come out. I am hoping BMW has fixed the issues by now.

They probably haven't fixed or changed anything. People keep buying the cars. Most 3-series buyers (non-members here) don't even know anything about the fuel pump issue. Hell, I've talked to my dealer and they haven't had one fuel pump case yet. Hopefully it's not going to be me.

Just buy it and enjoy it. If it fails, it will be replaced under warranty. The actual percentage of failures is very low despite the ravings of folks on the forum.
