How do you drive your BMW...
I was wondering how BMW owners drive their cars/suvs, do they really use sport mode of the auto transmission...

I agree. Had one as a loaner when my 335 was in for PPK install and really enjoyed it. It was nimble and easy to zip around in. Kinda reminded me of a 2002. I'd love to try the M.

I use it quite often. Usually when I want to overtake someone like a dick, enjoy the stretch ahead of me, or just feel the power that the twin-turbo'd beast has to offer.

Almost always in D/S. Use paddle-shifters about half the time when I'm in Sport mode.
I would also say that about 30%-50% percent of the time that I drive in Sport Mode I also use the Sport Button on the 335is. DCT is awesome ![]()

Town commuting: normal mode and paddles for downshifting and save brake paddles
Trips: sport mode (suspensions setting only for fuel economy) and paddles for overtaking/downshifting Fun: sport+ and manual gears (paddles)

Unfortunately, I don't get many opportunities to "drive" my car. I am usually stuck in traffic that moves at 10-20 MPH pretty much from point A to point B, and I don't believe in gunning it, then slamming on the brakes between 100 feet from one traffic light to the other.
The few times I have left the city with her however, I have experimented with the M/S and or the sport button, but to be honest, the X6 is so sure-footed and she already distributes power incredibly well, (especially with the JB4 chip I have installed), I haven't had many opportunities to test her limits. Daily driving: Normal Mode The one -two long trips I MIGHT go on occasionally: Normal Mode (most of the time) Playing/Showing off (with/for other high performance cars): M/S and Sport button engaged all the way!!

xDrive vs RWD
BMW gives AWD drivers one transmission choice.....Automatic
![]() I really miss driving a 6 speed but I don't have a choice where I live now. We get 500-800"(no typo) of snow October to June here in the Wasatch Mountains in Utah and I refuse to drive a Suburu all winter just to drive a manual trans 550i RWD a few months a year. It's too bad BMW forces you and me into a AUTO in any xDrive. |

I enjoy using M/S mode, but I wish the response was faster.
