Hi all!

As I'd joined up to this site not long after picking up my new pride and joy, I thought it would be prudent to (belatedly) introduce myself.....and my E92 335i to the rest of you.

I've recently relocated back to Melbourne after spending the last 7 years in the UK and Ireland. The 335i is the latest in a long list of cars I've owned over the last 13 years which most recently has included an Audi Q7, 987 Boxster S and an Audi RS4.

Looking forward to meeting some of you at the next Melbourne meet!

Thanks for the welcome!

The alloys I personally love, though it took a week or so. The car was BMW Melbourne's sales director's ride and he'd spec'd them. I nearly had them changed to the standard "blades" but now I'm sooooo happy I didn't.

As for the reason for the switch, well I went out looking for an ex-demo M3 bargain and came home with the 335i. For me, it's the better car for the type of driving I do...a true GT whereas the M3 was far more focused. I'd still love a drive in the new M3 when it gets here though!

Hi Solistics, Welcome to the forum.
I'm still waiting for my 335i, 3 months still to go. Must agree with your comments about the 335i being a better every day driver. If I was spending weekends at the track I would go for the M3 for sure - but time(and money) are always a problem!

Welcome buddy! I've had my 335 since Nov last year and love it as much as the first day I drove it from the dealers. I'm sure you will too- it's such a great daily driver! I love your wheels- I wanted those too but they couldn't get them when I ordered the car. They're 198 composites aren't they? I guess you have to be a BMW director to get what you want huh?

Which other options did the car come with?

I'm assuming you had the Q7 at the same time as another car right? That thing is a tank!!

Yep, they're 198 composites. The car also had the following options:

Steptronic
Metallic paint - Space Grey
High-beam assist
Lights package (v. cool)
Active steering
M-Sport suspension
Electric sunroof - glass
Anti-dazzle mirrors
Logic 7
Sports seats
Luggage package

You're right about the Q7...it was a tank...just flat-out huge and a nightmare to park! When we moved back to Melbourne we were initially a one car family and needed a car of that was more practical than I'm used to....hence the purchase. Aside from the ridiculous turning circle (or lack there of) and the terrible insurance costs (twice that of the 335 if you can believe it!) it was a cracking family vehicle. Loads of space, decent handling, safe and solidly built. I'm still shopping around for it's replacement.

Yep! I see plenty of info for Sydney meets but nothing in Melbourne. A good run up to the Yarra Valley gets my vote!
