You think Seb knew that Letterman is more than just a race fan but an actual race team owner???? Didnt seem as if he knew that..

I'm a BIG Letterman fan, but his interview sucked. Sometimes Dave gets into this combative mood, as he did with the rapid-fire questions about Germany and Indianapolis and KERS and DRS and car specs and Bernie Ecclestone etc.

He could have done the interview as a racecar owner to an F1 driver. How bout the fact that Takuma Sato races for Dave? How bout the GP of America in NJ, which Vettel and Coulthard just did a promotional event for? How bout the USGP in Austin? Vettel kept trying to control the conversation, and talk about NJ, but Dave kept ignoring him, and just kept yammering about F1 racing on the oval at Indy. Vettel was pleading to Dave that explaining KERS is NOT what the audience wants to hear about. It was pathetic.

Of course Vettel knows, but Dave doesn't talk about it with guests in the business. Doesn't want to alienate the audience.

I couldn't agree more. Dave wouldn't let him speak and when he did he just cut him off again. Oval racing in an F1 car? No thanks. Even the F1 track at Indy was a snoozer. If Indy cars already race on ovals, why do we need to see F1 cars do it? The whole conversation made no sense, had no flow, and really made Dave look like an ignorant boob. Vettel probably walked away thinking "typical American..." which is probably fair after that interview. Didn't put us in a great light! Piss poor interview by someone who we know is a legitimate racing fan...

I agree completely, I though leterman should have let vettel speak more and not cut him off. I actually like Vettel a lot, he is quite funny and has a great personality.

Totally disappointing interview.

In fact, they may have identical salaries of around 30mil/yr.

Vettel's salary may not be quite that much. For RBR it is also dependant on wins. Maybe $10m base, with $1m per win. I'm guessing though.

Disappointing interview. This is also why I don't like Letterman. Vettel should have gone on Leno's show instead.

That seems to be close to the info I got, $10-12M US. I had assumed he'd be one of the top guys, but Alonso is up around $30M, with Hamilton/Button at $16M.

I'm a regular Conan watcher but I usually like Letterman - I can't stand Leno. I really liked his interview with Marky Mark earlier in the same show but the wheels came off when Vettel came on.
