Paint coming off black trim strips

My 330D is nearly 3 years old and recently Ive noticed that paint is coming off the upper edge of the black trim strips on both sides of the car. Initially I thought it was residual polish but on close inspection it is small areas of missing black paint. At the moment its not too bad but I think it will only get worse.

Do you think it would be covered under warranty ?

The car has only ever been carefully hand washed.

Garage List
I have noticed this with my B3 BT however my original manufactures warranty is just two years and the extended warranty dos not include trim.

On my previous BMW which I had for 5 years an there were no sights of paint thining and that had black trim!

Looks to me that there is an issue with there paint on black trim.

Mines doing it too.

I'll probably buy a pot of touch up paint. It won't be noticeable in the trim...

Dealership says they've seen this happen after a car has been over enthusiastically power polished.
But in this case they are happy to replace the trim under warranty. Just waiting for the parts.

I've got the same on my e90, now out of warranty (extended but wont be covered) so I plan to run a Tamiya paint marker just along the effected edge. If the weather ever changes for the better and I can do a full detail!
