The other thing is for some reason this area seems to be full of tall, blonde women in air force uniforms. What can be done?

I was at the TT in the early 80's and after a race day, some friends and I were speaking to a policeman - the one who used to feature on postcards as he was incredibly tall (and drove a Mini van!). We were chatting in a field gate just down from the Creg (one of our lot had a falling off from his Velocette earlier that day and it had been "parked" there until after the racing). At this time all manner of Japanese 4's and 6's (remember the Honda CBX??) were howling past at great speed. Said policeman never batted an eyelid, just commented in an offhand fashion "hope these buggers remember Brandish down there". No doubt he'd seen it all before, and scraped a lot of bikers off the walls. Rumour had it that the local coppers were good, but the "imports" for TT week were, shall we say, perhaps over-enthusiastic!

I once flashed my lights to get a police car to move over at 140mph in Germany a couple of years ago. He actually moved and let me pass. The look on my wifes face was unforgetable

When I got back I told my German colleague, and he told me it was illegal to do this. I think he saw my GB badge and couldn't be bothered with the hassle.
