So, that Jimmy Carr...

I reckon he should be strung up. Cast out. Vilified by all. Especially by the press and the government. Including the Prime Minister who you would normally expect to be above such things but lucky for us shows he's in touch with the nation by voicing the nation's concerns. In a baying mob kinda way. Maybe they could get the Pope to single him out too. Pedophiles and tax avoiding comedians, hangings to good for them etc etc

Blah, blah, blah...

Carr has not broken any laws but has been branded immoral by a multi millionaire Primeminister who sold his soul to the Murdochs.

If its wrong then legislate against it, as you should expect from a government, or is there something in the news that theyre trying to cover up?

Thing is, it's nothing new, I know quite few people doing this sort of thing, there's loads and loads of tax avoidance schemes out there. Some work but some eventually fail when the revenue catches up with them - it's like a game of cat & mouse.

Does make you sick but there's little can be done. You quash one and another rears its head shortly after.

I agree ... he is having a go at someone who has done nothing illegal - what right has he to do that. He should close the loophole if he doesn't like it.

I don't like tax avoidance (well, when I pay it ) but the simple fact is that what Carr has done is not against the law.

Now, Mr Cameron has a go at people like Jimmy Carr but what about MP's expenses where MP's have clearly broken the law by making false declarations ... and nothing has happened to the vast majority as it was all a 'mistake' or 'oversight' and they are 'sorry'. If they were normal members of the public caught making false declaration en masse to obtain money you bet they would all be arrested, charged and prosecuted!

Most IT contractors I know are using these schemes. As soon as the government removes the IR35 rules, then they will pay the same tax as everybody else.

IR35 is the con, where self employed people are expected to pay employee AND employers national insurance. This is costing the goverment millions as it pushes people into the schemes.

I think the pm and tax man need to tread carefully here. Many multi million pound business can up sticks and move headquarters in tax havens. We are better off having a small percentage of their dough than 100% of nothing.

Fair play to Cameron and Osbourne though. Their joint statement on Vodafone pulled no punches. A quote here...
