I installed mine this weekend. As stated before, install was a bit of a pain, primarily because of the spring compressor tool. I honestly think I had to crank each one about 500 times per side; arms got a bit tired and the angle was uncomfortable, but not unbearable. Start to finish it took me about 3.75 hours with the first side taking much longer than the second due to the learning curve.
I didn't re-use the rubber spring seat and I've got no squeaks or any other undesirable side affects. I'm on factory ZSP and the perches lowered the front of my car 9/16". I went from being able to get "2.5 fingers" between the tire and fender and now I'm at 1.5 fingers. It's a subtle difference, but I'm happy with the result. The perches seem to be a very high quality product and tanks to everyone posting their experiences as it made my install much easier! |

Takes us about 45 minutes to do the install here at the shop.

had my perches installed about 2 weeks ago along with a set of Koni FSDs. The shop has checked the alignment 3 times and swears its at factory settings, but the steering has become very quick, to the point that it darts across every bump in the road. Shop wonders if even the small amount of lowering from the new perches has changed the alignment specs. They are a reputable shop that works on plenty of other BMWs.

Something is not installed correctly. Any chance you can email me some photos of the installation? eric@supremepower.com Be happy to take a look for you. The lowering spring perches if installed correctly have nothing to do with the issue you are having.

Some of you guys have gone as low as you can on your Bilstein Coilovers and the perch will give you an extra 1/2" should you need it

These are intended to be installed w/o the rubber spacer/gasket, correct?
Have there been other reports of people experiencing binding noises when turning the wheel, and more of a harshness over rough road, after installing the perches? I've had these symptoms since I had them installed with bmw perf. suspension almost a year ago, and while I don't always get the binding from the front, it still occurs occasionally while turning the wheel at slow speeds (ie: parking). Any help? |

No we have had no reports of binding noises at all. Only a faulty installation woudl cause this. It is more than likely one of the following:
1. Washer between bearing and perch is not installed right side up 2. Washer between bearing and perch not installed at all 3. Rubber gasket installed when it shouldnt be 4. Top nut not tightened all the way 5. Bearing needs to be replaced. There should be no harshness or binding with this spring perch. It operates exactly like the OEM part in terms of function. If you need help dont hesitate to PM or call me directly at 714 632 1951 x225 Thank you

Thanks, I really appreciate the help Eric.
I've had feelings it was either #1 or #4. Might take it over to LTBMW again and see what they say. I'll definitely be in touch Eric to go over the specific issues I'm having and to hear your thoughts. |
