The "While" was probably when you discovered that Mail and SMS messages appear when the phone is locked or when the iPhone Mail/SMS Apps are in the background. If you are viewing them directly on the iPhone screen they will not be sent to the iDrive as that would be redundant. As soon you as put the phone away and let messages arrive organically they will immediately display on the iDrive naturally.

I can also attest to it working. I had the same issue with Sender Unknown but my iOS 6 Beta 2 caused enough problems where I went back to iOS 5 before seeing if it fixed the issue (I might try it again fresh though, no restore).

Since information is about sharing, I'll share this: normally you have to be a registered Apple Developer and register your UDID (Unique Device ID, unique to your iPhone) with Apple to run a beta. However, there are organizations that will register your UDID under their developer account, and you can freely download and install the beta if you'd like (heeding the warning that it is BETA software with no guarantee of it working, and it could even brick your device. But that's rare. Make frequent iTunes backups before and after the upgrade).

Just click on "Register your UDID" and pay the $7 or $8 depending on whether you want it instantly registered.

I have a ios6b2.

I've updated everything, have combox and still can't get this to work. Does the Iphone have to be set a certain way for the messages to populate?

I had to check a box named "Office" in bluetooth settings of iDrive, it was just under "Bluetooth Audio"

Well I have tried everything, have May 2012 build X5 M50d with 6NR, Prof Nav, have updated to the latest Bluetooth firmware. Have a iPhone 4S running IOS 6 beta 2.

Have "OFFICE" in iDrive (only Office, no sub menu and never did have, I also do not have BMW Apps either). I can get Internet, can listen to WebRadio on iDrive.


Cannot get Messages or Mail, have Notifications turn on in iPhone, Messages also are not in "Telephone" section of iDrive either.

Have BMW restricted this in the iDrive for Australia?

Have run Update Services in iDrive

Bluettoth in X5 working as I can use the iPhone to make & receive calls and Contacts list appears ok in iDrive.

Have I missed a setting somewhere?

Check the messages notification on the iPhone and make sure that "view in lock screen" is on. Lock your phone and then send a message to it while it is paired.

Ok a further update,

I now have (after numerous changes) under "OFFICE" in iDrive, Messages & Office Today. I also have under "Telephone" in iDrive, Messages.

I see it download data from the iPhone and my iPhone shows on the front screen I have 3 un-open emails but they are not download to the iDrive. The iDrive says there is no unread emails and Messages, whether I filter or not.

(Messages show as none but I know I have read all the SMS's so they will not show).

I have Notifications turned on in the iPhone, also in mail & messages setings. I also I get my emails automatically from our Exchange Server to my iPhone and that works ok.

Am I missing a setting somewhere in the iPhone which could stop the iDrive from picking up the emails?

PS. I have IPhone tethering turned on under Personal Hotspot so to be able to get Internet on the iDrive.

I have try office in my car with a 4GS and NOW I can confirme that the 3GS don't support MAP protocole!!!!

Got it all working, had not turned on "view in locked screen" in Mail in Notifications on iPhone.

So much for PNP.

Its only taken BMW 10 years to get to this stage in Australia, we don't even get "BMW Apps".

The UK seems to get everything, have been told that BMW Apps can be turned on but there are only a couple coders in Australia that can do it.

But now being able to get Mail & Messages on the go is great, and the play by voice works fine when reading the messages & emails.
