This is really awful of me to repeat, but being born and raised in the south I completely agree with it. My Grandma always said after Katrina "We need one more strong cane to get what Katrina missed" Is that racist? You could say it is. Im so sick of the you know whats here and people say everywhere you go there are the "riff raff" but it is NOT like New Orleans. Ive lived in Maryland, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Utah and Ive visited many other states and stayed for weeks at a time. Never have I seen such filth, scum, and just completely trash worth of a population then here in New Orleans. People ask me where I live and I tell them Southeastern LA ....I cannot wait to move to California. Good riddance Louisiana.. Katrina, BP...theres just nothing going right for this state anymore.

And what about the Mardi Gras then?

I've only been to NYC and Miami/Fort Lauderdale more than 10 years ago. But we're planning to visit the USA in the oncoming years(but first the World Cup Football 2014 in Brasil) , New Orleans is a no go then?

I mean to out of towners, Mardi Gras is great but I live here. I grew up around carnival. Earlier this year in Feb when carnival started I didnt go to a single parade. Im so over it. Its fun to expierence once or twice. To me, the only ones worth it are Endymion, Bacchus, Zulu, and Rex.. Cleopatra is fun but thats on the Westbank.

I still love to visit the French Quarter every now and then. As a visitor on a brief stay (like a weekend), it's got a certain charm that I like. Would I want to live there? No. And I don't know what the surrounding areas are like but I imagine I wouldn't like it much anyway. Besides, I'm spoiled where I live with the weather, people etc.

Because Dana White. That douchebag has created one if the fasted growing, most popular "sports" today. I've had my fair share of combative mixed martial arts training but the key word here is combative. Much different than what you see in the cage.

i just wish Mayor Bill White would have never opened up the Astrodome to Katrina Victims, but the storm gained national attention EVEN BEFORE it hit N.O. because of what everyone knew what was inevitibely going to happen.....

Bill White HAD to do something to show that he cared - Houston opened up it's homes and it's shelters for these people in good faith.

I never found it funny. There's funny and then there's crude. Two different things. I don't take it too seriously. If I did I would probably go nuts with all the irrisponsible and pathetic behavior out there. Part of me has conceded that this is just the way of things and all things change.

I'm in agreement that political humor is lacking class as well. Patriotism is definitely not popular anymore.

Well by the time she decided we needed to leave it was too late to get the horses out and she wasnt leaving them. So we stayed. The shit we had to deal with was torture. dealing with the most uneducated, unemployed, poverished and most disrepectful people in the nation was the worst part....

i wouldn't even be able to tell you if there is another city in the nation that would give N.O. a run for it's money when it comes to people like this....

My Grandma passed away just over a month ago. Im hoping she's up in Heaven and can conjure up something in the gulf one last time for us. That way I can be forced to evacuate and never come back. Pretty awful of me to say I know.

Then all of a sudden i had to brake abruptly cus there were 4 freaking kids walking across the street like they owned the damn road!! They were probably in their early teen. all i know is that i live life very comfortably here in Houston.

my mortgage payment is just over $1200 and i have a 2300sqft 2-story house and 2 new vehicles...

at my "current" hourly rate, i'd definitely be pushing the limitations - i believe i would be taking a step back.

i would need about a 60% increase in salary to live as comfortably in SD as i am here in Houston.

plus, here in Houston i can find a job anywhere in the city for Engineering/Procurement/Oil/Gas/Petrochem/Hydrocarbons - there is no shortage of work here.
