Hey SP,
Got these installed and am happy with the look. But I've got the metal groaning & creaking sounds coming from the front end at low speeds. What should I tell the installers so that they can fix it when I take it back to the shop? Also, I have Koni yellows and Eibach pro springs. I don't think I will need to trim or replace the bumpstops due to the design of the Koni's to accommodate all sorts of lowering springs. Perhaps I should adjust them to be a little stiffer up front, but that's about it. What do you think? Thanks. |

Why Lowering Perches Dont Fit Xi
have verified why the XI lowering perches will not work. It all comes down to the strut tophat . Its a different piece than what comes on the any I suspension setup . If you buy a different mounting tophat for any other 3 series than a XI version it will work . SO to use the lowering perches you just need to purchase the I suspension Tophat and it should work unless they actually changed the mounting holes on the actual car well it will never work unless each pice is heavily modified . realoem has them for $65 each side
ALL I series cars [IMG] [/IMG]IAll XI series cars [IMG] [/IMG]This is where these can bought for cheaper than dealer Lemfoerder Strut Mount - Front Your Price: $32.85 Part Number: W0133-1779570 Notes: w/ Sport Suspension Packages or Poor Road Package Position: Front Condition: New This Product Fits the Following: Warehouse: A Vehicle Body • 2009 BMW 328i Sedan • 2009 BMW 328i Wagon Last edited by 08msportx3; 07-16-2012 at 10:57 AM. Supreme Power? Hello?
I'm taking the car back to the installers today to make sure the top nuts are tightened properly. Is there anything else I should mention to make sure the install is correct so that the noises go away? Could the little piece of rubber be causing this? Should it be removed? Also, I spoke with Koni NA regarding the shortened stroke range of their sport (yellow) shocks due to the lowering perches and my EPK springs. Their response is that they will be fine. As a preventive measure (so that the bumpstops don't prematurely wear out) I will be replacing my OEM bumpstops with the shorter ones from the M cars. |

Problem solved:
Rubber part #9 in the diagram above was causing extra noise when the spring would compress, noticeable through the cabin with windows up, at low speeds, going up driveways, over speed bumps, etc. Noise was a low frequency rub/groan. First we sprayed lubricant, took another drive and noted a reduction in noise. Next, we removed the part altogether and all noise disappeared. Thanks to Eric from SP who made himself available to help troubleshoot. Much appreciated |
