Exactly ! No matter what you say, but there is always someone who is careless.

btw, your location (downers grove IL) reminded me of Fry's electronics. After I moved to east coast, only big store near my place, Best Buy, sucks big time.

Customers should start doing walk arounds with their personal cars to the SA, like he/she does to you when handing over the loaner vehicle.

That way each vehicle's condition is documented. If you were real serious, you could do that.

Mine does this every time I've come in.

I had to take mine in for service the day after the window tint was installed. So in addition to telling the SA to not roll the windows down, I put painters tape over the switches and wrote "fresh tint--do not roll down" on the tape. Sure enough the porter gets in the car, rolls forward a few feet stops, bolts out of the car and yells at the SA "what's up with the tape on the window switches?" The SA says "if you read it, you'd know it has fresh window tint and DO NOT open the windows". The kid just stands there and goes "Oh..OK" gets back in and drives off. Got the car back an hour later, no issues. Yeah they do this every day, but everyone has habit patterns, and communication seems to be sadly lacking at a busy service department, so I took a little extra initative. The SA actually thanked me for saving both of us from a hassle.

Yet, EVERY. TIME. I pick up my car they have run it through that awful "car wash." I have thought about leaving a note in the car. Maybe I will next time (and maybe ill make it bilingual lol)

I guess I'm not the only one. Every time I go in for service I repeatedly tell my SA about 10x not to wash my car to the point where it gets annoying but it's the only way to drill it in his head. So far nothing has happened, although this one time my car came back with my rims washed and my SA told me " We didn't wash your car, just the wheels" there were a lot of water spots that splashed on the exterior and they dried wiped it! I was pretty pissed.

The SA's don't have control of the car from a to Z. You have to write DON'T WASH on some tape and throw it all over the outside of the car, then it's obvious.

I do understand that, but the SA's are also the only ones we are suppose to talk to about this when we bring it into service. I'm always directed to them, one time I think I told the valet guy to not wash my car when I seen him get ready to take it in the back, and he even said I have to tell the SA they handle it. So they could try to ensure what we request from a to z. But yeah, I'm definitely going with the DO NOT WASH notes on the car from now.

Lets just say people working at a dealership from top down aren't rocket surgeons.

Some have an traditional drive through car wash with those huge side and top rollers.... The type of carwash that everyone knows not to use.

There is one dealer (I will not name) that has a kid hand wash the car but they use the broomstick brush thing to scrub it first.

Personally I prefer washing it myself with the foam cannon and compressed air spray dry. No swirls
