Take into account that you'll most probably need to replace the brake pad sensor too if you want the worn pad signal to disappear and new sensor will probably need new pads as it might not fit with partly worn pads.

I am about to do front/rear brakes. Dealer says I only need rears, but I am getting a good deal no front/rear stoptech stuff, so I will have the front pads off my 08 e92 335i, will those work on your car?

so the question is, once I have a brand new pads put in and sensor back in place, will the light on iDrive and dash board go off?

You have to replace the sensor and then reset the service indicator. When I did my brakes I experimented leaving the sensor in and it didnt work. The e90 sensors have some "intelligence" unlike the previous generations ones that where on/off only. In the DIY post, discussion on the sensors start at post 82. Resetting the dashboard light is covered in post 100 and in http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51049
