I bought a DP and I've been looking for places to install. I got ridiculous quotes from EEC and Alberta Motorworks. Has anyone taken their aftermarket DP to different places? Thanks.

I went to Lightspeed Innovations in Red Deer for DP install. Was around $400 IIRC

I have been to Modern and also Dougs place. I liked Doug's better and considering they are both the same price as well as both a BMW Certified body shop you cant go wrong with either.

Take your pick!

Modern's excellent! I had a bad experience with Doug's Place years ago. Happy with Modern, twice now.

New to the forum and hope I'm doing this correctly. I have a 2011 328i Xdrive and would appreciate advise on snowtires. I have sourced a set of Blizzaks and wheels (156) but with my last experience, the Blizzaks were no better than all seasons after only 1.5 winters. I have the classic edition, 205/55/16.

I also have standard halogen headlights that seem a little weak, any suggestions for a brighter 55W bulb without going either the HID route or Xenon?

Welcome to the forum

Only experienced one set of Blizzaks so far (WS70's on my Evo X) and found them to be quite decent, if a little soft. I've tried several sets of winter tires so far, and I thought the Toyo Garit KX were very good.....harder than the Blizzaks for sure, but still relatively soft for a 'performance' winter. Dunlop Wintersport M3's were quite good too.

No recent experience with halogens to be fair, but I'd imagine a decetn set of Philips +50% bulbs or similar might make a tangible difference.

As above member mentioned the Toyo winters are very good, I am considering the Toyo, Pirelli and Dunlop as winters for the X3.

Snow Tires & Halogens

Bought a set of demo rims with mounted and balanced Blizzak LM25's from one of our local dealers. Rims are in perfect condition, tires 9/32 - should last a couple of seasons. Not a big fan of the life span of Blizzaks but the price was right, saved between $700-800.

Ordered PIAA headlight and foglight bulbs. Thanks for the input, much appreciated.

MIchelin X-ice are excellent winters. I have them on my 335i (with replica rims) in the winter and also on my Toyota SUV for a few years. No complaints from me.

Blizzaks are Winter tires until they hit a certain tire depth and then become all seasons.

Folks for installing your KWs go to Sheni's Auto Trend here in Calgary. I think I paid for 4 hours only, it's one of the lowest I found in Calgary plus I think he used to be a BMW shop foreman for BMW in Toronto.

For tuning and coding, go to to ECU Program (.com) in Calgary as well. They are very knowledgeable. Very good price too. My E90 now uses the angel eyes as DRL, I can now close my windows, sunroof and fold the mirrors using my keyfob and the door handle using comfort access. I also have my amber deleted when my DRL or headlights are on, also my fog lamps stays on even I am on high beam, plus I now have a digital speed display on my cluster and had the door or seat belt chimes off.

They will install my HID fog lamps and my LUX e90 5.2 LED for my AEs. Check them out guys, they do tires and wheels too and DYNO, check them out guys.

I think last year I had em on around the end of October. But if this winter is like last year...I might wait longer. Basically it all depends in the forecast around that time.
