Wheel Aligment post Coilover Installment

As title suggests, just looking to gather as much info as possible on getting wheel alignment done once the coilovers are fitted. Firstly, Is it a necessity or purely on a case by case basis?

Also, can any of you wonderful people advise where is best to go to get it aligned using something called the Hunter Machine? Someone reputable nothing that breaks the bank :-( I’ve read that some places have the Hunter Machine but don’t know how to use it to the BMW standards, in which case I wouldn’t want to go there, so any good / quality ones you know of in the Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey / London area would be great (avoiding East London if possible as that take a LONG time to get to)

Cheers all,
Sam

As a point I've heard a lot of folks saying that getting an alignment after altering your suspension (whether it be adjustable or a new set up) is wise. The drop pf your car alone can cause the tires to shift postition and most likely camber in more. Though this might not be an issue to most, this could cause accelerated tire wear. Also, your alignment will be out of factory specs which could be bothersome to some people. Hope this helps some

Ah thanks - I would have guessed the OEM alignment doesn't work in favour of a drop that's slightly lower than an M Sport (currently OE) so will have to wait and see if anyone can recommend local specialists.. thanks for the above info.

Garage List

That site shows you all the centres with a hunter machine.

The machine is only as good as the operator but they have all the tolerance specs. I was advised to make sure that they clamp the steering wheel straight and adjust to the centre of tolerance, not just in the green will do.

As far as requiring an alignment after fitting your coilovers.... Necessary! Don't mess about unless your happy with sub par performance and possibly accelerated/uneven tire wear.
