Wheel squeak issue?

I bought my car about a month ago, CPO'd but out of factory warranty. I've noticed a loud squeaking coming from the rear of the car at lower speeds and the noise seems to be pretty consistent with the spinning of the wheels. I have a service appt. tomorrow and was wondering if anyone else has had this issue to know what to expect. I hope it's covered under CPO warranty and I hope they can "replicate the problem."

Yes, it is unfortunately fairly common -- both of my back wheels squeak up to 15mph and I was told it is because of the brake sensor rubbing. My dealership told me that they can't fix it under the warranty because I have aftermarket brake pads (ironically came with the car when I bought it CPO).

I'm sure they'll be able to easily replicate it -- make sure to have them verify it as soon as you get their; I find my wheel squeak doesn't happen at first, but starts after driving a few miles of stop/go traffic.

Good luck!

Yeah mine's the same way as far as not doing it at first. It's so bad that I can hear it with the windows up and radio on. Quite embarrassing...I bought the car from a Lexus dealer so hopefully it has the OEM pads. I'll find out tomorrow I guess. I wonder what their fix is without having to replace the whole pad...

Let us know. I have the same squeak and my car is currently CPO as well, but I figured they would tell me it's a maintenance issue or worn part and not cover it.

Yep, annoying but not too much that can be done about it. How often do you wash your car and spray the brakes off? Often brake dust can affect this, well with my car it seems to. But yes, right rear brake wear sensor is the cause of the noise, and when not braking...

Search for brake squeak/squeal under the Suspension | Brakes | Chassis forum and you'll find the same. My brother just recently cleaned all of my pads and put CRC Disc Brake Quiet on the pads and so far so good. Although I heard something this morning on the way to work

Hopefully they do but BMW seems pretty strict about CPO only covering engine issues. I have the same squeal and never bothered taking it to them for that reason. I talked to one of the techs after an unrelated service one day to told me that its common and there's not much that they can do with OEM parts to make them go away completely or forever.

Hey man -

Check out this thread:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48702

It talks about your EXACT issue (and mine for that matter). It has over 380 posts and 38,000 views. Very very common issue on this car. Also very very annoying.

To summarize: Sometimes its the wheel dust. Or the metallic in the pad. Or the sensor rubbing against the wheel.

No one really knows for sure but typically after a wash and after new pads/rotors the issue subsides.

^ Agreed. Lived with this squealing issue for about a year until I changed all pads (aftermarket) and oem brake sensors and haven't heard any squealing since
