Check/Clear Codes,Adaptations,Register New Battery. Free, No INPA/EDIABAS required.

Guys, I'm new to the forum and hope to become a regular here. I posted this on another forum and was told I should share it over here as well. I've been developing software for BMWs for a while now and I'm finally making some fun applications available to you guys, the enthusiasts. In doing so I've made some FREE options available to everyone, covering a very wide range of BMW vehicles.

These free features currently include:
Check Prominent and Shadow DME Codes.
Clear DME Codes.
Clear All DME Adaptations.
Register A New Battery With IBS, as easy as choosing Register New Battery in the special menu.

No INPA/EDIABAS/DIS required, it's a standalone application. This works on Windows XP and newer or Mac OS X 10.5 and newer. All you need is a supported FTDI based USB K-Line for Pre-03/2007 MY or K+DCAN cable for Post-03/2007 MY, and you're good to go. Check out the tutorial video to see how to setup the software to use your cable. Enjoy!

K+DCAN Cables:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...words=K%2BDCAN

http://www.one-stop-electronics.com/...&product_id=16

Here's a link to the version that supports E90/1/2/3
www.bimmersoftware.com/BMWLogger-2

To register your battery:
Make sure you have IBS on your battery.

Make sure the vehicle is off.
Put the key in.
Press start with the foot off the brake, so the engine does not start.
Choose to register your battery in the software.

To clear adaptations:
Turn the vehicle off.
Insert the key and push START without starting the engine.
Clear adaptations.

If you clear adaptations and your next startup is extremely rough or has a surging idle follow these steps:
1. Never touch the brake pedal & leave the key inserted the entire time
2. Insert key and push START Button
3. Press and HOLD accelerator pedal for 30 seconds.
4. WITHOUT RELEASING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, push the START Button (remember without touching the brake, so the car doesn't really start yet.)
5. Release accelerator pedal
6. Wait 30 seconds
7. Start car normally

If you have questions about the free features I'd be happy to respond here... If you have other questions please use email as this is not a commercial post.

What perfect timing! I have a coding cable but could never get the software to run right on my windows partition of my macbook.

I *JUST* installed a new battery about 5 minutes ago and did a search for battery coding. This came up. I'm downloading it for my macbook and will post back shortly

Thanks so much

Hmm, so for me.. it doesn't do anything. my cable was one of the rip off $100 cables.
its K + Dcan USB interface (INPA Compatible)

When i plug it in, it just says "Cable not detected"

i tried doing it with the car on, key on.. etc..

this is on macOS 10.7.4

**EDIT**
I just tried my sony vaio and still have the same issue.

You just downloaded an Iranian virus to your computer. Next thing you know UAV's will be landing in your back yard.

EDIT again

So I watched the video and made sure to select my cable. It worked. I was able to read codes and reset them but i couldn't click on the "Adapt" button. when I click on it, it tries logging into my DME and then says "a packet failure has occured or there was no response from the DME. disconnecting"

You were able to read codes, but it wouldn't clear adaptations? That's odd. Did you choose the Register New Battery option in the Special menu? Can you select Collect License Data from the menu and send me the file?

Sure no problem. I'll do that right now.
email address on the website?
(info@)?

Actually, i just tried to collect the data, i got the same error. It tries connecting to the DME.. and then gives that error.

Also same error when i try registering the new battery..

Hmmm. Definitely email me Info@BimmerSoftware.com and we'll figure out what the deal is. If you were able to check codes you should have no trouble collecting license data so your cable may not be plugged in tightly to the OBD2 port.

Yup, I was able to. I was even able to clear the 3 codes. 2 grey, 1 red.

I'll email you from here and see what we can do. Would be nice to get the software to work properly this way I can purchase a license.

You just need a K-Line cable, which can be had for about $10.
