Speeding in NJ...90 in a 55...need advise. - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

I got a ticket on the turnpike 90 in a 55. The trooper said he paced me from the truck lane i was in the car lane. The ticket has a court appearance date in AUG which is on a sunday. What should i do ??? also the statue code on the ticket is for speed 1-14 mph above speed limit .This does not correspond to 90 in 55 which is a different code.

either way plead not guilty, talk to the prosecuter and see if they can knock it down to unsafe operation.. your allowed to use this twice with no points but you'll end up paying a few hundred dollars for the ticket and a surcharge

and if it it is for 95 in 55 id suggest getting an attorney to represent you.. may cost some extra bucks but in the long run it would be worth it

Thats why I always take the truck lane. Harder for them to hide and easier for me to see.

However, if he was pacing you from the other side of the TP, how did he pull you over?

You have 2 fatal errors on the face of the document and you can easily, with the right representation, get it thrown out.

sucks man. I got nailed doing 51 in a 30 at 3am in east Hampton a few feet from the start of a 40 mph zone. I mean really now...what the h€(( is that going to accomplish? Meanwhile, some drunk a$$ I passed a few miles back drove by while I got written up. Nice....

Discretion is apparently not a part of the police academy curriculum.

Can someone with a badge please engage this discussion? I mean to debate the subject.

That is your ticket out of your ticket (pun inteneded). If he wrote you down for 1-14, thats all they can possible hit you for, regardless of what he says you were doing. SO worst case scenario you pay fine on 1-14, his mistake is your gain

Was the trooper drunk? How do you make two errors like that writing a ticket. Pay an attorney, and have it thrown out.

where is the court appearance you need to make? did you get the letter in the mail stating the date of the appearance?

i am in a similar boat with a minor mistake on my "court appearance required" ticket. I have spoken to a few peeps that have told me that minor errors on the ticket do not stand on a leg in court. Of course I am hoping otherwise.

I'm not gonna lie thats pretty bad lol....but honestly who follows the speed limits in jersey there way to slow. I remember for kicks i actually went 55 and it felt like was going 20mph while everyone was going 80+!!

Naw, thats a one time thing. Save up the 300 more and get a PROcede. Thats the best money you can ever spend. Pay the ticket and go to driving school. Wipe the 2 points and get the 10% back on insurance that it might go up from the ticket. Its a wash.
