What did I create this thread for!! http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=720790

But yeh I'm getting a set this weekend or next weekend.

Taleb or St George tyres are very competitive on pricing with the R888s.

Will these be dedicated track tyres?
If so you might consider a harder compound like the Kumho V70A/B (A/B refers to compound)
http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Kumho/V70a.htm

My estimated pricing for 19" sizes:
Toyo R888s ~$400
Kumho V70A/B ~$500

Also pavo depends what size you want to run, I don't think 275/30/19 is a very common size for these more track oriented tyres, pretty sure 265 is more common (these have very square sidewalls anyway)

Yeh I was looking at the tyre thread but thought I'd ask if anyone had bought the r888's locally as the states is about 100 a corner cheaper then the two places you mentioned in the epic thread

I got my R888 from Taleb for $300 each 18" size. A mate of mine got the same tyres from St George for $250ea. Just be warned that they are fairly noisy if you're planning on using them daily.

Do you guys know if the R888's have a full thickness sidewall like typical rcomps? Or can you still squash them with your fingers?

The 888 is a true semi slick race tyre but is street legal, great in the dry but only OK in the wet.
The side wall is hard to help with tyre flex during hi-load turns TOYO make another tyre the R1R i use these on my GTR but not as good as the 888 just like Mr Blond and Pavo they go soft after only a few laps.

You can not compare a semi slick with any street tyre it is night and day, if you are into track days you need a set.

I've heard mixed reports about these R888 and also not coping with M3's weight.

I wanted Nitto NT-01 but they are too scarce at the moment. Anyone have any track time on R888's and can plug a review?

Tracked Eastern Creek with R888s on the C63 and they felt pretty damn good. Had no hesitation throwing the car into turn one at speed as the tyres provided pretty decent grip. They're the only semi slick tyre I have used so I can't really compare against anything else.. but apart from the terrible road noise they do seem to perform well from my experiences so far.

Thanks buddy!

Out of interest, do you know what hot pressure you were running? I'm running a square setup, so these tyres would at least be rotable. I'm running out of time, so might order a set from sydney in next few days

Thanks mate. Yeh, that's pretty high, but if they hold up to the weight of a C63 they should be ok on M3 too (I'm guessing weight is same).

I just tracked down some Nitto NT01 though, stateside shipping $350 so will pounce on them if it works out.
