Hit and run...
Was out last night and got hit by this lexus which then proceeded to try and getaway... Chased him down and got his license plate, BMW assist helped since I didn't have my phone on me...
Went filed the police report and the address was in it. Went there turned out it was the 20 year old son of the owners. They seem open to settling... Well long story short I was wondering anyone knows a good body shop? Got sideswiped along the drivers side from back bumper to drivers side door.. Doors taking the brunt of it... Thanks in advance... Ps should I file the report anyway and get him in trouble for the hit and run? How is this gonna affect me?

They are not going to be easy to get ahold of by phone I've found. Might just want to drive up when they are open for an estimate (don't think they are open Sat).
When you get there you will have no doubts. Best work hands down, and most of the chicago folks have direct experience with them and concur.

I wouldn't try to settle unless they can pay you a good amount over what it'll cost to fix in cash up front, otherwise theres no benefit to you for allowing them to avoid the legal punishment.

Definitely file a police report. The kid deserves to learn a lesson. And also go to the nicest, most expensive shop possible. The kid and his family will have to pay for everything so you might as well get the best.

Make sure you file a diminished value claim so you can get money for the amount it had depreciated from the accident.

I'm sorry to hear about your accident. I had that happen to me when a car backed into my parked motorcycle and took off. I filed a police complaint with the license plate number and they were able to track down the owner for me. I also got phone numbers from a couple of strangers who witnessed the incident, which proved to be helpful later since the runner's insurance company wanted to talk to a witness.
As far as body shop goes, I have used the Guy & Sons in the West Loop a couple of times and they did an excellent job. I had an RSX at that time and they paint-matched the Pearl White better than anyone else. |

Personally I've been going there for 5+ years to get all my parts painted and sometimes fitted. Their prices are very reasonable and the work is great. I don't take my car anywhere else. Talk to Anthony (owner with his dad) and he'll take care of you. |

Thanks for the note about A&L. I looked them up and found that they are located way out there in Palatine
I think I'm going to go with Guy & Sons since I have had a good experience with them in the past and they are located in Chicago. |
