Your Opinion is needed on '09 335i xDrive
Hi all, i am new to this forum, a little background info: i have been driving a 1995 mercedes benz E320 for 7 years, it has treated me very well (171k miles). I am going to pick up a 2009 BMW 335i xDrive with the m sport package this weekend, I would like to hear your opinion on this vehicle, the good the bad and the ugly, all of it please!!
Thanks in advance, -Ptuh |

I have a 2009 335i xDrive and it is AMAZING! The only bad thing i could think of is the gas mileage but you shouldnt worry about that since you own a BMW

2008 335Xi here and I've got no complaints at all!
I say this even though my 335 has been in the shop now for over a week.... *sigh* xDrive is great. I know a lot of folks around here dislike it, but living up in the northeast it's nice to be able to put the power down with a much wider variety in road conditions vs. non xDrive vehicles. I'm sure you'll hear it from a number of people; but there are HPFP (high pressure fuel pump) issues plaguing owners. BMW extended the warranty for the HPFP though, but it might be worth it to check and see if that's been replaced in your vehicle already. The stock RFT tires the car comes with are pitiful. For me, it felt like I was driving on stilts. One of the first things I bought for my E90 were new rims with go-flat tires for the warmer months. I'm keeping the stock rims/RFTs for the winter months. The performance is fantastic. If you find yourself wanting more, you can always add a tune for well under $1k (plenty of options available depending on your tastes and available funds) and end up with a whole "new" vehicle. Great choice, nice car, I hope you enjoy it!!

So I picked up the car and been driving it for the past 2 days, my dad loves it and drives it more than i do, I would i go about finding out if my HPFP has already been replaced? Also my friend who has a evo 8 that he tuned to 350 WHP and told me that there are a bunch of packages out there with different settings i can load onto my car, does anyone know more about that? |

Upgrading from a 1995 e320 3.2 liter straight 6 to this beast i can't really complain, plus it's xDrive, do you know the MPG you're returning? If it's above 20 combined i'm happy (I mostly do city driving)

With my fbo + meth I get about 25mpg on the highway if I'm conservative with a few wot pulls.
Combined city/hwy I get about 18-20mpg. Pretty happy for close to a 400awhp car. |

picked up my 335i Xdrive a few months back. 21.5 mpg average, tons of grip in the rain which is why I had to look 1000 miles from home to find it. Other than the little stuff to expect on a used car. Ive loved every second of driving it.
JB4 makes the AWD factor a complete blast to have someone in the passenger seat not ready for what happens next. |

I just bought an 09 335i XDrive in June and I am in love with it. On the highway the gas mileage is decent (around 28-30mpg if you drive it conservatively) but it eats gas pretty quickly while city driving (20mpg). I got the Dinan Stage 1 performance upgrade which boosted it up from 300 to 360hp. The thing is a beast with 60 more hp. It is more expensive than a lot of the performance products out there but includes a 4 year warranty since Dinan is a recognized aftermarket company by BMW.

There was a voluntary recall for the HPFP. If you call up the dealership and give them your VIN I’m sure they would be able to tell if that service was performed.
I get about 19 mpg. I’m mostly city driving. Enjoy the car!

My MPG is 19 mpg on average but that is because I always shift in the late 4RPM range as I like to push my car alot, if you drive without pushing the car I would imagine that you can get 20-21mpg. I always fill up with 93octane as well.

You could probably check with the dealer and have them pull service records for the vehicle. They should be able to tell if the HPFP issues have been addressed. There are a few options for the 335 in terms of tuning. The most popular are the Cobb Accessport, Procede, and JB4. A bit of Googling or searching the forums will find you TONS of info and comparisons/opinions from different people. Personally; I went with the Cobb AP for sheer simplicity's sake and I'm quite happy with it.
