USB into center console

I would like to install a USB input into my 2009 E92 335i. I want to be able to connect my iPhone to the car and be able to control the ipod with the steering wheel. Any help on where to get the parts and a possible DIY?

BTW I plan on buying the 6FL wiring to use the iPhone.

Thanks!

FYI:

there is a usb port already installed in your center counsel
there is a little spring loaded slide door looks like a sideways turned cactus over the port
looking at your picture its all the way on the bottom right just below the Aux IN "Headphone looking" jack.

Thanks for the input, but I should have been more clear, thats not my pic.

All I have is the "Aux" input.

Your USB input could then be in the glove compartment.

Now, in my car, that usb input is just for getting music in/out of the internal hard drive. The car has its own dedicated ipod cable.

I dont know if you have iDrive, but on my car I go into Music Collection and there is all the stored music I imported. I can plug in a usb stick with music and import all of it. Much better than ipod, since the ipod interface is sucky and incomplete. My ipod crashes a lot due to the slow interface.

USB port is on the glove box, left side. Outside of the actuall glove box.

Yea I don't have iDrive or Navi, so I was just looking for a way to plug in the ipod into a USB drive, or a USB stick into that port... Would make it easier instead of burning CD's since, I don't have a burner on my new notebook.

I'm in the process of doing this myself. Check out this thread, it should have the part numbers you need. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=689846
