i suggest looking on craigslist or pinkbike.com you can find some pretty good deals

Awesome thread. I've been riding for years. My newest addition was a hybrid to ride with the wife. Up next might be a Bianchi Infinito or a Cannondale SuperSix. Who knows really I have so many in mind! Bike and rack before I put the Thule fairing.

(very) new cyclist here and looking to buy my first bike. I'm sorta torn on which to go with. I'm not sure if i should be choosing a road or an urban flat handle bike.

Main use would be for exercise but would like to do some long distance riding (~40miles) eventually. I don't think it'll see urban areas like SF, especially after seeing how crazy drivers are in the city.

I do like the Specialized Sirrus but i'm not sure if they work for longer rides? oh and budget is around $1500+/-

You could get a decent road bike that suites the riding you described for $1500.

I need new cycling apparel. Rolled the dice and purchased a standard kit off eBay. Was castelli bibs and jersey for $53. Ordered large shorts and medium jersey. Shorts fit like a medium. I know I've gained weight since my racing days, but my old large bibs still fit.

Going to buy the old fashioned way today. I'm thinking capo bibs. At least I know it will fit right.

Anybody have recommendations as far as comfortable high quality bottoms?

I'm glad to know that there are fellow cyclists among this forum. Currently ride a 2007 Fuji Roubaix Pro...nothing fancy or pro but it provides for awesome weekend rides.

This was taken after moving to SoCal...

I'm going to Saturday's USA Pro Cycling finish in Boulder up Flagstaff Mtn. I rode it yesterday so I can compare my times with the pros
