Gasoline in carpet
Hi guys,
This isn't BMW related, but you guys are very knowledgeable so I figured I'd ask you. My neighbor has a Chevy Tahoe and was driving with two gasoline canisters in the back. Wen he stopped at a stop sign, they tipped over and spilled gasoline on the floor, which was absorbed by the carpet. He's been out all day cleaning it. He tried using a vinegar & water mix to wash the carpet, then used a steam cleaner on it, and some baking soda to absorb everything. He's done multiple rounds of the above and the carpet is better, but it still smells like gasoline. He's got a newborn baby so I told him his best bet was probably to have the carpet replaced. But just in case, do you guys have any other suggestions for him?? Thanks!!! |

leave the doors open all day...eventually it will probably evaporate...a diesel canister spilled in my golfs trunk a few years ago, the smell eventually left...
