Next question:
Do I load all four DVDs into the NAV system if I want to update the east and west maps and the east and west maps that contains cams?

And for the setup file, can I place that on a CD or a memory stick or can I start on the first DVD map of my liking?

I have yet to get my Bimmer, which will happen this week.

U can only use one disc either east or west and the ones with cams are the same as the ones without cams so whatever area you live in is the one you wanna use

So from what you are saying, if someone lives near a boarder which separates the east from the west (according to BMWs maps), are you saying that those people would have to choose which map to load?

Does it require that the car remain on while the NAV is being updated?

And how does one tell what version of the maps are installed on their current Navigation System?

Thankfully, I still have my Garmin Nuvi, in case the NAV cannot be used during the update process - which I imagine it would not.

Man I hope to get my BIMMER this week!!!

With the CCC navigation it actually uses the DVD as the navigation so you don't update it. To see what you have right now just hit the eject button on the bottom cd insert the one that says DVD. The DVD always stays in the slot. So to put a new one in or go from east to west takes like 10 minutes max.


Thanks to crzylildude for this cause I didn't want to type this out lol.

HOW TO SWITCH YOUR OLD DVD WITH A NEW DVD PROPERLY:

- First bring your car out in an open area (no obstruction above)

- While your car is running (i mean while the engine is running) eject the old DVD, after that it should say “please insert dvd”...

- Insert new DVD into your drive as instructed and it should say (NEW DVD VERSION. PLEASE SHUT DOWN SYSTEM AND RESTART AFTER 5 MINUTES)... make sure you shut down your sustem, leave your car and take the keys with you for 5 minutes)

- After 5 minutes get back to your car and restart your engine... your NAV should bootup automatically

- If you are in the Eastern Region, you should be using the EASTERN DISC... If you insert the Western Disc it will bootup but it will not show you any map or direction... It will show you an empty screen with just the sky on the very top... Likewise If you are in the Western Region do not expect the Eastern Disc to show you map and direction...

Because of available torrents, I'm downloading the East w/o cams but the West with cams. Cams don't matter to me since my escort radar detector has a library built it. I just want to know if having one with and one without is a compatible combination?

Well you can only use one disc at a time unless you can find a way to combine the two ISO images together to burn onto one DL disc I started to do it then stopped cause i have been way to busy with work.

Got my BIMMER. What is the difference between a CCC versus a CIC Navigation and how do I know which one I have? I have a 2009 335i-X Drive Coupe.

I believe I discovered a built-in Hard Drive which has a total of 12.5GB available to store songs. I was able to find this out as I was able to rip songs from my CDs. Just found out that I have a USB connector in the glove compartment which will make it convinient to charge my iPod or USB Phone (soon to get a Galaxy S III). Whoo hoo!!!

Mike, You can also burn your music to a large (16GB) USB put it in the Glove box and play directly from that.
