transmission feel driving a 325

Just curious to people's thoughts regarding the feel of the transmission. I currently drive a Mazda 6 manual, not bad for the price but so Japanese. The shift is quick, short but lifeless and not very interactive however driving the E90 man and shifting from 1st to 2nd it felt like I really had to pull it into 2nd - shifting at 3500rpms - and it just seemed really tense, and elasticy as in a lot of tension shifting. I've owned an Audi and the transmission was different in that one, better than Japanese but I think I liked it more than the 3 series. does it grow on you? Does it feel different over time?

It'll grow on you. And if it doesn't, there'll be short shifter kits for this car.

Was the car cold? Gear shifts can be stickier when transmission not warmed up

definately not cold, I guess it's a real adjustment going from Japanese transmissions to something that has more 'personality'
